Jeanette Opal Amble, 89, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2026, at St Paul Lutheran Church, 612 Jennings Street, Sioux City, Iowa. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Avenue, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
Jeanette was born on September 10, 1936, in Perry Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, the daughter of Victor and Rena (Harper) Lundgren.
Jeanette graduated from Western Iowa Community Tech College as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1971. She worked for Dr. Wm. L. Jackson, MD, for 18 and a half years and later worked for five years with Dr. Stanley Bloustine, MD, as an LPN and office nurse. Jeanette was also a Breast Cancer Survivor.
Jeanette was a previous member of Concordia Lutheran Church and a current member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was active in the Altar Guild and Women’s Society and served as Secretary of the Voters Meeting and on the Church Parish Council. She enjoyed her daily Bible study, doing crafts, gardening, cooking, and baking for family and friends. Jeanette was known for her love of talking with family and friends and for writing letters and cards for any occasion.
Jeanette is survived by her daughters, Dawn (Randy) Girard, Denise (Phil) Townsley, and Teresa Vallejo; grandchildren, Chad Nicolls, Charles Nicolls, Nicole Townsley, Eric (Beth) Townsley, Sara (Jeff Watterson) Girard, Arnie (Diana) Girard, Ralphie (Dawn) Vallejo, Rena (Dustin) Vallejo, Katrina Vallejo, Deidra Fuentes, Izzy Fuentes, Victor (Juliana) Fuentes, Carmen Brewer; 14 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Charles Lundgren; her sisters, Alice Pedersen and Carol Rayevich; several nieces and nephews; and many others who adopted her as family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Terrance Amble; her daughter, Laura Fuentes; her great-granddaughter, Freedom Cousineau; her brothers, George, Gene, Lyle, Carl, Lester, and Victor; and her sisters, Arlayne Benson, Lois Jean Lundgren, Marian K. Lundgren, and Lillian Lundgren.
