We made a change to our hours!

As of last week (yes, we're a little late on the announcement, but as they say, better late than never), we're opening the doors at 9 am every day. Monday thru Saturday. We'll still be closed on Sunday. The store will be open, the shelves will be stocked, and yes, Moss & Mug Herbal Tea & Coffee Bar will be up and running with a fresh latte ready if you need one.

We made this change because mornings are important. Whether you are stopping in to grab a product you are running low on, picking something up for a friend, or just looking for a reason to slow down before the day takes over, we want to be here for that.

The coffee bar just made 9 am feel like the obvious choice.

New hours: Monday through Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm.

Come see us. We will be here a little earlier from now on.

Our new location is easy to find on Minnesota Ave. Just in case, you can always put this in your maps.

If you've shopped with us at our former location downtown, the response is all the same. You walk in, you stop and look around, and you say, "Wow."

As you scan the place (there is a lot to see), you notice a section unlike anything you've ever seen from us before: a coffee shop.

It's been so fun to see people meet a friend at our store, grab a latte, sit and chat for a bit while the kids play at our new kids area (yes, we made a spot just for the kids!), and take a lap or two around the store.

It's everything we imagined and so much more. The connection that coffee brings is simply divine. We were meant to be with people. To have a connection. To slow down, if only for a moment.

On this page, we won't share everything about the coffee shop, so follow the page and stop in sometime. It'll be worth it, we promise.

Whether you've been part of the Juniper story for a long time or you've just found us, you know we pride ourselves on exceptional products, exceptional service, and exceptional experiences.

Our new coffee concept is no different. And tomorrow, we're excited to be part of our Moss & Mug Herbal Tea & Coffee Bar's Grand Opening.

We hope you'll take a moment tomorrow to stop in. Bring a friend, grab a coffee, take a photo, have a laugh, and browse the retail store.

See you there!

Tomorrow. We are doing this tomorrow.

We have been so heads down getting ready for the grand opening of Moss and Mug that we almost forgot to actually tell anyone about it. That tracks for us.

Saturday is the day. Our official grand opening for Sioux Falls' newest herbal tea and coffee bar, tucked inside Juniper Apothecary on Minnesota Ave.

Come in and try something you have never tasted before. We will have our full line of hot and iced lattes, housemade herbal syrups including The Meadow and Garden Light, hot and iced teas, hand-squeezed lemonade, and the best pour-over coffee in town. Don't believe us? Come down and try it.

If you have been curious about the new space, this is the perfect excuse to come see it. Walk around the retail store, grab a drink, find a seat, and stay a while.

No rush. No pressure. Just really good coffee and good people.

All the details are in the graphic below. We hope to see you there.

Sip slow. Live wild.

We've been pretty casual about what is probably the most significant change to our business, outside of our big move, obviously.

I'm not sure why we haven't talked about it more. I like to say it's because we've been busy. Too much other stuff to post about. Too much else to get done, and this one thing, this one huge, significant thing, can wait.

But I think the real reason is nerves. I've just been nervous about it. It's not a small thing. At all. In fact, it's huge. But I think it's time we really share about it.

WE STARTED A COFFEE SHOP.

There. I said it. We did it. We launched a full-service coffee and herbal tea bar. What started as a small concept in our minds turned into something we never even dreamed of. But here we are, and we couldn't be more grateful for it.

Just about a year ago, my husband and I got into coffee for personal enjoyment. If you're not into coffee now, may I recommend you never start. It will lead you to starting your own coffee shop, ha!

For real tho, what started as a cheap espresso machine turned into something we never expected. A dream. A concept. A full-service coffee bar with a philosophy that felt like a natural extension of everything we already believe.

Our philosophy has always been that wellness is a personal journey, not a one-size-fits-all destination. It is why our products are never prescriptive. We meet people where they are. And where some people are, is in desperate need of a really good latte.

Self-care looks different for everyone. Sometimes it is a tincture. Sometimes it is a magnesium cream before bed. And sometimes it is a beautifully crafted cup of something warm that makes you exhale for the first time all day.

That is what Moss and Mug is. An extension of the same intention, just in a cup.

Just like the products in our store, we took the same approach of handcrafting all of our syrups from scratch. It's the only way to ensure that what goes in our drinks has not just good quality ingredients, but ONLY good quality ingredients. No fillers, no garbage, just clean flavor.

We like things to be unique. Special to us. That meant our bean needed to be unlike anything you'd get anywhere else. So we worked with a new roastery out of Rock Valley, Iowa. Despite them having a new setup, many of you will recognize their name: Rooted Plant + Coffee Shop.

We were floored when they reached out to us about their new coffee roasting setup. We worked closely with them to create the most unique and flavorful bean we've ever tasted.

I know I'm biased, but it's seriously that good. And the most exciting thing is how well it pairs with herbal and floral syrups.

You can get a strawberry or blueberry latte anywhere. But where can you get an elderflower, lemon verbena, and citrus syrup that tastes as if you stepped into a garden of sweet light? (Hence the syrup name "Garden Light") 😊

And so, here it is. We are ecstatic to formally and officially announce our new coffee bar, tucked inside our beautiful new store:

Moss & Mug Herbal Tea and Coffee Bar.

We're starting out with a small but delicious menu of housemade syrups, espresso, pour-overs, hot and iced teas, and coming soon is lemonade, cold brew, and some really fun tea lattes. All the things you'd expect at a full-service coffee bar, only better. ;-)

The coffee bar is open during normal business hours for now, but more details to come, including an announcement of a grand opening for the coffee bar, specifically. Some fun things are in store.

Stop in, grab a hot or iced latte, and walk around. Check out our products, see the store, chat with us about what's new. Can't wait to see you.

More details to come, and links to the coffee shop's page and website are in the comments. Give it a follow over there for all things coffee and tea; we'd love to have you. Stay tuned for more!

I've been talking about magnesium for the last few days. We've shared a pretty incredible customer testimony, and it's gotten a lot traction. Since then, we've taken a ton of questions and people asking about it.

I've never really explained what magnesium is, why you need it, and why ours is different than what you might find elsewhere.

I like to say the proof is in the pudding. In our case, it's in the cream. The magnesium cream.
If you scroll back through our recent posts and read the comments. So many people with incredible stories about OUR magnesium cream.

If you want to learn more about it, I wrote a pretty detailed blog about magnesium. It's got some interesting stats, like how over 45% of Americans are magnesium deficient and don't even know. I included some tips on how to use it, the different kinds of magnesium, and how it works.

I dropped a link to the blog in the comments. We're going to start talking more about herbs and products again. Customer education has always been something we've strived to do. What should we cover next? Let us know!

I want to expand on a story that I alluded to yesterday. This is a moment when I realized that maybe we’re more than just another retail store. Honestly, I haven’t stopped thinking about it.

Last week, Monday, was moving day. My husband and I had spent Saturday night and most of Sunday packing everything we could in boxes. I had been working on this for weeks. Moving as much back stock as I could ahead of time. But Monday was the day the movers were coming to finish it off.

We packed up every last product on the sales floor. Disassembled the shelves, and tried our best to organize the chaos for the moving company.

Monday came. The boxes, shelves, and equipment slowly made their way out the front door, onto the truck, and out of sight until they arrived at their new home down the road. I left to meet the movers at the new store to direct the unloading. Some things go in the basement, others on the main floor. It was stressful, but I can’t imagine doing this part ourselves. (Shoutout to Affordable Moving for the amazing work!).

Then we got a call.

It was a customer and she was frantic. “Oh my gosh, I thought you were moving NEXT week and you were open today. Is there ANY WAY I can still buy your magnesium cream?”

I was on my way to the new store. There wasn’t a single product that we had that wasn’t in a box. I racked my brain. I can visualize the box I put our magnesium creams in. Sleep Cream, Miracle Muscles, and our base Magnesium Cream. But where is it in the stack of boxes… I had no idea.

I told her I’d do my best to watch for the box and let her know in the next hour if I can find it. She was so grateful. And I could hear in her voice that this was important. Like, really important.

The movers were moving, and I saw the box. I knew which one it was because the side handle had ripped due to my overfilling it and making it too heavy. I opened it up and saw the light blue label. I sent her a text, “I’ve got it at the new store if you can come down. 2019 S. Minnesota Ave.”

“I’ll be there in 10,” she replied.

As if she had set a timer for 10 minutes, she walked in our door. Not just happy we found what she needed. But absolutely grateful. She didn’t just want some magnesium cream. She NEEDED it. According to her testimony, it’s the ONLY THING that helps her sleep. Restless legs, muscle cramps, and it helps her deal with her autoimmune issues.

By the time the conversation was over, we were all tearing up hearing about how our products have helped her and her family.

That’s the impact that hit me. I’ve heard hundreds of these stories over the years. “We love your Sleep Aid tincture!” “Your Eczema Salve is a game changer for our family!” And on and on. But standing in this new space, with boxes surrounding us, and a customer who NEEDED our products TODAY, I don’t know how to explain it. It hit different.

I left that conversation feeling more proud of what we’re doing than ever before.

Our line of magnesium creams have been a top seller for years and years. I originally made our Miracle Muscles for my husband’s marathon training as a muscle recovery cream. He’s the one who coined it. Because, according to him, his muscle recovery was practically a miracle. 😂

But since it’s been on the shelves, countless customers have talked about their joint pain relief, surgery recovery, stubborn muscle tension, headache relief, and so many more things. One spouse told us her husband rubs it on his neck before bed and his snoring issues resolved overnight, literally!

It never ceases to amaze me the way we can combine the herbs and plants that God gave us on this earth to help our bodies.

What an amazing journey this has been. And so much more to come. ❤️

People have been asking, "So what are you doing with all that free time now that the space is done?"

I struggled to keep a straight face as I gestured toward my husband, who was busy finishing the tile backsplash for the coffee bar. Which, by the way, is opening VERY VERY SOON.

We are not done. Not even close. But it is really coming together. And seeing the faces of people walking in for the first time has made every late night worth it.

We have been open in the new space for barely a week, and something has already become clear that we honestly should have recognized sooner. We have become a real, established business in Sioux Falls. A brand that people have come to rely on.
,
That is a strange and humbling thing to sit with. But the week we were closed during the move, we heard story after story. People who drove in from out of town and found us closed. Phone calls asking if they could still get this product or that one, even though most of our inventory was still in boxes. People who simply missed us.

We are not just another retail store. We have been doing this for nearly eight years, and we have learned how to make products that actually work for people. That trust means everything to us.

The new space gives us room to grow in ways we have been dreaming about. We are expanding into supplements and homeopathics, and more complementary products that fit our philosophy even if we did not make them ourselves. There is a lot more coming, and we will be posting about all of it.

In the meantime, we have some caulk to finish around the tile. 😜

What a transformation! This whole space was such a labor of love, sweat & tears. We are so pleased with how it turned out.
