“This place looks like a cruise ship!”

Seventeen years ago, when Rose and Elvin first walked through the doors at Edgewood Fargo, those were the famous words of their granddaughter. But after all these years, Rose has learned that the best part of choosing senior living isn’t just about the beautiful dining room, the activities, or the amenities.

It’s about having options. It’s the different levels of support within the right community that give you the freedom to keep living life your way.

After 17 years at Edgewood, Rose and Elvin’s story shows how senior living can evolve with changing needs while helping preserve independence, connection, and home.

❤️Today at our lunch and learn we talked about "When is it Time
for Assisted Living"❤️

Signs it may be time for Assisted Living:

1. Safety Concerns
*Frequent falls or near falls.
*Difficulty managing medications
* Leaving appliances on or forgetting important tasks.
* Wandering or becoming confused.
When safety becomes a daily concern, extra support can prevent accidents and provide peace of mind!

2. Daily Tasks are Becoming Difficult
* Trouble preparing meals
* Difficulty with housekeeping or laundry
* Challenges with bathing, dressing, or personal care.
* Missing appointments or forgetting important responsibilities.
Needing Help with these tasks is common and does not mean a person has lost their independence.

3. Isolation and Loneliness
Many older adults spend long periods alone. Signs include:
* Reduced social activities.
* Lack of interest in hobbies.
* Feelings of sadness or depression.
Assisted Living offers opportunities for connection, friendship and engagement.

4. Family Caregiver Stress
Often the question is not only whether the senior needs help, but whether family caregivers are becoming overwhelmed. Signs include:
* Caregiver burnout
* Increased worry about the loved one's safety.
* Difficulty balancing work, family and caregiving responsibilities.
Assisted Living can provide support for both residents and families.

THE BEST TIME IS BEFORE A CRISIS!

The question is not, "Can mom and dad still live at home?" The better question is "Are they thriving, safe and enjoying life?"

Assisted Living isn't about giving up independence, it's about gaining the support needed to live life more fully and confidently.

🎶 Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, fresh painted benches and views that are smitten. Beautiful flowers all in a row. These are a few of my favorite things. 🎶
One of our maintenance employees has been busy refurbishing our benches in the back so that residents can sit and enjoy the beautiful views!
