Not every gut feeling is anxiety. But anxiety can sound a lot like intuition.

“Something feels off.”

Okay.

Pause before deciding what it means.

Ask:
Am I noticing a pattern, or predicting a catastrophe?

Intuition can feel quiet and grounded.

Anxiety often comes with urgency, fear, and a thousand possible outcomes.

The goal isn’t to distrust yourself. It’s to learn your own internal language. That’s part of emotional awareness.

✨ Have you ever mistaken anxiety for intuition?

Indigenous Peoples’ Day is a reminder that awareness should make us curious, not comfortable.

It’s an opportunity to learn about Indigenous histories, cultures, communities, resilience, and the ongoing realities Indigenous people experience.

And from a mental-health perspective, it also invites us to consider something important:

We are shaped by the stories, systems, and communities we inherit.

Healing can include examining what we’ve been taught.

Questioning what we’ve normalized.

Listening to voices we haven’t historically centered.

And being willing to learn without needing to be the expert.

Today, let curiosity be part of your practice.

Your Sunday reset might not need a planner. It might need a nervous-system reset.

Before you organize your calendar, answer:

🧠 What am I mentally carrying?
🫀 What is my body asking for?
🌿 What do I need to release?
✨ What do I want to feel this week?

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do on Sunday is stop trying to prepare for every possible problem.

Take the shower.
Go outside.
Put your phone down.
Light the candle.
Pray.
Journal.
Stretch.
Sit in silence.

Your reset doesn’t have to look productive to be restorative.

What’s your favorite Sunday reset ritual?

Friendly reminder: therapists get overwhelmed too.

We have bills.
Families.
Deadlines.
Bad moods.
Overthinking.
Laundry that has been sitting in the dryer for three days. 😂

Being a therapist doesn’t mean I’ve mastered being human.

It means I’ve learned to notice when I’m struggling, get curious about what’s happening, and use the tools I encourage others to use.

Sometimes that’s therapy.
Sometimes it’s rest.
Sometimes it’s a boundary.
Sometimes it’s admitting:
“I can’t do everything today.”

And honestly? NEITHER CAN YOU!

🖤 What are you giving yourself permission not to finish today?

Sometimes your body knows you’re overwhelmed before you do.

The headache.
The irritability.
The tight shoulders.
The exhaustion.
The “I don’t want to talk to anybody” feeling.
The sudden urge to cancel everything.

These aren’t automatically signs that something is “wrong.”

Sometimes they’re information.

Your body may be telling you:
“This is too much.”

Before you criticize the reaction, pause and get curious about the need underneath it.

🧠 What happened?
🫀 What am I feeling?
🌿 What do I need?

Your body isn’t always the enemy.
Sometimes it’s the messenger.

Which signal does your body give you first?

You don’t need to romanticize your life if you won’t actually be present for it.

The cute coffee.
The clean house.
The fall candles.
The sunset.
The pumpkin patch.

All lovely.

But your real life also includes laundry, hard conversations, grief, boundaries, bills, therapy, messy kitchens, and days when you don’t feel particularly inspired.

You don’t have to turn every moment into an aesthetic.

Sometimes the healing or romanticization is simply:

“This is my life. And I’m here for it.”

October doesn’t need a new version of you. It might just need a slower one. 🍂

You don’t have to enter a new month with a new routine, new goals, new body, new mindset, and a color-coded plan for becoming “better.”

Maybe this month is about coming back to yourself.

Less proving.
Less performing.
More noticing.
More breathing.
More being.

Ask yourself today:

What would feel like enough this month?

Not what looks impressive.
Not what everyone else is doing.

What actually feels sustainable for you?

🍂 Save this for the October days when you start feeling behind.

What are you giving yourself permission to do less of this month?

Nobody tells you that getting older can make you care less about being liked and more about being aligned.

There’s something humbling about another year around the sun.

You start noticing what actually matters:

Not impressing everyone.
Not explaining every decision.
Not chasing every opportunity.
Not maintaining relationships simply because they’ve existed for a long time.

You start asking better questions:

Does this feel aligned?
Does this relationship feel healthy?
Does this life actually feel like mine?

I’m entering this next year with less interest in proving myself and more interest in being present for the life I’ve worked so hard to build.

That’s the kind of wellness I want to talk about more.

Not just how long we live, but how intentionally we live.

🎂 Here’s to another year of becoming—not reinventing.

💬 What’s one thing getting older has taught you?

You don’t need to wait until January to change your life.

You can start on a random Monday.
September 28th.
At 2:17 p.m.

After a bad day.
After a good day.
After realizing you’ve been settling.

There is nothing magical about January 1st.

Sometimes the most powerful fresh start is the moment you finally say:
“I’m ready to do something differently.”

Start small.
Make the appointment.
Have the conversation.
Set the boundary.
Take the walk.
Rest.
Ask for help.

You don’t need a perfect plan. You need a next step.

💬 What’s one thing you’re ready to start before the year ends?
