There are not enough words to say thank you, Dolly.
From all of us at Nurture Pediatrics, we want to take a moment to honor one of the most remarkable women this state has ever known. Dolly Parton's Imagination Library has placed free books in the hands of millions of children, including so many right here in our community, and the impact of that gift cannot be measured.
As a pediatric practice, we see every single day how foundational early literacy is to a child's development. Reading builds language, imagination, confidence, and curiosity. It opens doors. It helps children dream bigger. And Dolly believed that every child deserved that chance, no matter where they were born or how much their family had.
We will miss her deeply. But her legacy is not going anywhere. It is living in the hands of every child who opens their mailbox and finds a book with their name on it. It is living in the stories read at bedtime, in the words children are learning to read for the very first time, and in the generations of Tennessee children who will grow up knowing that someone believed in them.
Thank you, Dolly. From the bottom of our hearts. We will miss you.
