✨ What is Integrative Pediatrics? ✨

Integrative Pediatrics looks at the whole child—mind, body, and daily environment. 🌱

At InTouch Pediatrics, we blend trusted, traditional pediatric care with thoughtful integrative options when it makes sense—so your child gets care that’s both grounded and personalized.

What that means for you: Less guessing. Fewer repeat visits. More “we actually figured this out” moments.

💡 Here’s something many parents don’t always think about:
Sometimes the “issue” isn’t just in the body… It’s in the inputs.

Things like sleep timing, food dyes, low iron levels, screen exposure, or even gut imbalance can show up as behavior, focus issues, or mood swings.

So instead of just asking, “What diagnosis is this?”
We also ask, “What’s driving this?”

Because your child isn’t one-size-fits-all… and their care shouldn’t be either.

Choosing a pediatrician is one of the many important decisions you'll make before your baby arrives.

A prenatal consultation gives parents the opportunity to:

👶 Meet the provider
👶 Ask questions about newborn care
👶 Discuss feeding options
👶 Learn what to expect during the first few weeks
👶 Feel more confident before delivery

Whether this is your first baby or your fifth, we're honored to be part of your family's journey.

We love helping parents feel informed, prepared, and supported before baby even arrives.

📞 Contact InTouch Pediatrics to schedule a prenatal meet-and-greet.

NATIONAL CHILDREN'S AWARENESS MONTH.

Children grow and develop in their own unique ways.

Some reach milestones early.
Some need extra support.
Some learn differently.
Some communicate differently.

And every one of them deserves compassion, encouragement, and access to quality healthcare.

At InTouch Pediatrics, we believe in partnering with families to help children thrive physically, emotionally, socially, and developmentally.

Because every child deserves to feel seen, heard, and valued.

💙 We celebrate the strengths, talents, and individuality of every child.

Summer means more time at pools, lakes, beaches, splash pads, and outdoor adventures.

While most parents remember sunscreen and life jackets, there's one water safety tip many families don't know:

👙 The color of your child's swimsuit matters.

Research and water safety experts have found that bright neon colors such as:

🟡 Neon Yellow
🟠 Bright Orange
🟢 Neon Green
🩷 Bright Pink

are often easier for parents, lifeguards, and rescuers to see in pools, lakes, and oceans.

Colors that can be more difficult to see underwater include:

🔵 Light Blue
⚪ White
⚫ Dark Colors
🩶 Gray

Swimsuit color is never a replacement for supervision, swim lessons, or proper water safety practices—but it can provide an additional layer of visibility when seconds matter.

As you shop for summer swimwear, consider choosing bright, high-visibility colors that can help your child stand out in the water.

And don't forget:

✔ Apply sunscreen regularly
✔ Stay hydrated
✔ Wear helmets while biking and scootering
✔ Never leave children unattended near water
✔ Make sure life jackets fit properly

School is almost out for the summer. Many families wait until school restarts to address:

• anxiety
• focus issues
• sleep struggles
• emotional dysregulation
• behavior concerns
• stress overload

But honestly?

NOW is one of the BEST times to create a plan.

Why?

Because summer gives families room to:
✔ evaluate what worked last year
✔ identify struggles early
✔ create routines
✔ improve sleep habits
✔ support mental health
✔ work on regulation skills
✔ build confidence before the pressure returns

The goal is not perfection.

The goal is to help your child enter the school year feeling more prepared, supported, and emotionally regulated.

Sometimes getting ahead NOW creates a much less stressful fall later.

And you don’t have to figure it all out alone. 💚

Talk with us about ways we can support your child’s emotional, behavioral, and overall wellness before the next school year begins.

At InTouch Pediatrics, we’re expanding our integrative pediatric approach to support the WHOLE child:

✔ mind
✔ body
✔ nervous system
✔ emotional health

One of the tools we’re excited about is NuCalm.

NuCalm is designed to help support relaxation and nervous system regulation without sedation.

Some families are exploring tools like this for children who struggle with:
• anxiety
• stress
• overwhelm
• focus challenges
• emotional dysregulation
• difficulty calming down

Because calmer nervous systems often help children feel safer, more regulated, and better able to function day-to-day.

Integrative pediatrics is not about replacing traditional medicine.

It’s about adding thoughtful tools and support to help children thrive more fully.

Summer is actually a GREAT time to slowly start building healthier rhythms 😎

One mistake many families make?

Waiting until ONE week before school starts to suddenly fix:
😅 bedtime
😅 screen time
😅 routines
😅 emotional regulation
😅 sleep schedules
😅 structure

For many children — especially kids with:
✔ ADHD
✔ autism
✔ sensory challenges
✔ anxiety
✔ emotional dysregulation

…big routine changes can feel overwhelming to the nervous system.

Summer is actually a GREAT time to slowly start building healthier rhythms NOW:
☀ morning routines
☀ calmer bedtime habits
☀ reduced late-night screens
☀ structured activities
☀ emotional regulation skills
☀ consistent sleep/wake times

Tiny changes now can create a MUCH smoother school transition later.

Because stressed-out August mornings?
Nobody misses those. 😭

At InTouch Pediatrics, we help families create realistic strategies that support the whole child — not just survive the school year.

Some children look completely neurotypical on the outside…

…but internally may struggle with:
• sensory overload
• emotional dysregulation
• anxiety
• social exhaustion
• processing delays
• masking behaviors
• difficulty transitioning or coping

And because they “look fine,” people may dismiss what they’re experiencing.

A child does not have to “look autistic” or visibly struggle to deserve patience and understanding.

Sometimes the child smiling in public…
is completely overwhelmed inside.

Respect goes a long way.
Especially for children fighting battles you cannot immediately see. 💚

Hand flapping.
Rocking.
Repeating sounds.
Humming.
Pacing.
Fidgeting.
Jumping.

This is called stimming — short for self-stimulatory behavior.

For many autistic children, stimming can help:
✔ regulate emotions
✔ process sensory input
✔ reduce anxiety
✔ express excitement
✔ create a sense of calm and safety

Sometimes people rush to stop stimming because it “looks different.”

But many children are not trying to misbehave.
They’re trying to regulate their nervous system.

The goal should not always be:
👉 “How do we stop this?”

Sometimes the better question is:
👉 “What is this child communicating?”

Understanding creates compassion. 💚

One of the hardest truths in mental health?

Teen boys often struggle silently.

Not because they don’t feel deeply…
but because many were never taught how to talk about those feelings.

Parents may notice:
• increased irritability
• withdrawing from friends or family
• changes in sleep
• loss of motivation
• excessive gaming or isolation
• “nothing matters” comments
• sudden anger or emotional shutdown

Sometimes depression in boys hides behind silence.

Checking in matters.
Listening matters.
Connection matters.

And no — asking your child if they’re struggling will not “put ideas in their head.”

It may open the door that they were too afraid to open themselves. 💚
