“The goal in life is to die young...at the oldest age possible." -Unknown
My favorite quote and perfect for September, which is .
In my line of work, I see injuries and pain every day. Some patients tolerate trauma well; others, not so much.
As we age, it naturally becomes harder to recover the same way we’re able to in our youth. If you turn on any device with a screen (including the one you’re reading this on right now), you will be bombarded with creams, rubs, and potions that promise to extend your life.
I have no interest in making you survive to a higher age, UNLESS that also includes making sure you are LIVING during all of those years.
I regularly see patients in their seventies, eighties, and nineties. When I see them aging and still living well, there is one thing in common they all do well to help them live better lives:
MOVEMENT!!
Movement isn’t just about walking and exercising either. It’s also about making your brain move and work!
I don’t care what trendy age-defying products come and go. Movement is and will always be what truly makes people live longer and healthier lives. (But please don’t skip those mammograms, prostate exams, and all the other fun things that you must do to prevent disease as you grow old!)
How does Chiropractic help with movement? I’m glad you asked! It’s actually pretty simple. Your brain and body handle most of the work for us, but the better you understand it, the faster your unconscious mind will put it to work for you.
-Reduced joint adhesions that make you feel tight/achy
-More efficient muscles, reducing tension on tendons, discs, nerves, and ligaments (which, in turn, reduces painful Inflammation)
-Better sense of where your body is in space (improved balance, coordination, and feeling stable)
- Helps your brain create and maintain nerve connections within itself so you don’t “forget” how to move yourself around
