The Sanctuary Cycle: Honoring Entropy 🧪☕🌿

My hearts, I’m in the garden today, and I’ll be honest—throwing this away would be so much easier than what I'm about to do...

I was donated a batch of herbs and supplements from a neighbor in February, and some were just too old to pass on. The "normal" thing to do, the thing we’ve been taught by a world of planned obsolescence, is to just toss them in the trash and forget they existed.

❌But we aren't "normal" on this porch.
We are good stewards. 🗑️

We know that landfills are not "the end," and that even "garbage" has a vital place in the natural world if we are ingenious enough to find it. We can’t be lazy with the land... but we can figure out how to have fun doing the "hard" things, too.

✅ The Supplement Soup: I’m making a concentrated tea from these old pills and leafy materials. It breaks down the walls of the capsules and softens the roots so the minerals are actually ready to work for the soil instead of sitting in a dump.

✅ The Mineral Imbue: I’m soaking our compost in high-value potassium and fiber. It’s a multivitamin for the earth. I'll strain the fermented liquid off into a separate bucket and use it as fertilizer; then the chunky bits will go into my tumbler composter to finish breaking down.💊🌻

✅ The Lesson: Refusing to succumb to the throw-away culture is how we take back our power. Tending to the cycle is a choice to use everything. It’s hard work, but there is a certain kind of wit in knowing that our "chaos garden" is going to be the best-fed stretch of Snowflake because we refused to be lazy. 🎡🌿

⌛We are officially 139 neighbors away from our 500-goal giveaway! If you are following that journey, stay with us... We're so close now.✨

Have you ever caught yourself about to toss something "old" only to realize it was exactly what your garden needed?

Late Night Kitchen Chemistry: The Kibble Contradiction 🥣🐾✨

My hearts, I am back in the kitchen tonight, and while the rest of the White Mountains is settling in, I’m stirring up a fresh batch of dog food. 🌙🍲

I’ve been making this for a friend’s dogs for 6 months now. One is 18 years old, and the 'pup' is 6. Both are thriving in a way that just wasn't happening before.

It got me thinking about the things we find 'normal' that are actually so contradictory to what’s good for us—and our animals. ⌛

✅ The Cereal Metaphor: Imagine if you were told to eat nothing but a specific brand of cereal for the rest of your life. Every. Single. Meal. Dessicated, dried, and processed. We wouldn’t do that to ourselves, yet we’ve been told that feeding our pets 'kibble' for a decade is "normal". The industry is so protective about pet food, that you meed licensing to make and sell it. There is designer dog food, and fresh pet brands. But thise still contain fillers ,preaervatives and other ingredients we really dont want our pet to eat. 🥣🚫

✅ Real Food, Real Life: I’m not doing this commercially—I don’t have the licensing... but I do it for this for my friend because I see the difference real nutrients make, and he doesnt have a kitchen setup that makes it possible to do it for himself. 🥕🥩 I make this dog food for my 2 pups too. A 13 year old granny (the little one), who acts like a puppy, and my high energy pit bull mix (The big girl jumping up and down). You can see them here... in the video, dancing and singing for their breakfast like its a stage play!

They love it so much, that they ask for food an hour before meal time! 😆

✅ The Lesson: Sometimes the most 'normal' habits are the ones we need to question the most. If we want our gardens and our bodies to be vital, shouldn't we want the same for the souls that guard our homes, cuddle us when we need love, and are loyal to a fault? They trust us with their lives, shouldn't we do our best for them? 🐕🏠

I’m curious... have you ever looked at your pet's bowl and felt that same 'weirdness' I have? Have you made any changes to how you feed your furry family? Tell me about it below! 👇👇

Please ignore my husbands legs. He rarely wears shorts, like he did this morning... so i happened to get part of his bare legs in the shot. Oops! 🤦‍♀️

The Porch Report: From Storms to Stillness 🌪️➡️☁️✨

Oh my hearts! What a difference a week makes in our corner of the White Mountains.

Last week, we were in the thick of it, cleaning up tornado damage, clearing trees, and leaning on each other just to get through the day.
It was loud
It was heavy
and it was hard. 🌪️🛠️

But this week? The air has changed. ⌛

✅ The Cool Reprieve: The heat has finally backed off, and the cloud cover is giving us a much-needed shield. It feels like the land itself is taking a breath after the storm. ☁️✨

✅ The Harvest Rhythm: I’m seeing so many of you focused on your gardens, harvesting what the sun and rain have provided. There is a quiet power in tending to the plants after we’ve spent so much energy tending to the damage. 🌿🌻

✅ The Need for Rest: After the 'caffeinated squirrel' energy of cleanup, I’m seeing people choose family time and porch-sitting. 🏡💕 We are moving from the fight back into the flow.

❌ Don't feel guilty for the rest.
✅ Do honor the energy it took to get here.

We are building a network of resilience, and that includes knowing when to put the tools down and just listen to the rain. ❀⛈️

We are officially 143 friends away from our 500-follower goal! Tag a friend in the comments who needs this message today ❤️

Thank you for keeping the porch warm.

How is the energy in your home shifting this week? Are you finally getting that rest, or are you still in the thick of the harvest?

The Divine Detour: The Pothos Check-Up ⌛☀️🌱

My hearts ❤️, I had a moment last night that reminded me exactly why I am where I am. I had just gotten home from a full day at the sanctuary, and I was met with a 'patient' check-up.

A young friend from my work brought over a Pothos I gave her last year. The leaves were yellowing, and she was worried she was losing it. ❀ 🌱🪴

✅️ She's 17, finishing school, and one of the most delightful young people I’ve met here in Snowflake. She has an entire original character universe she illustrates by hand, no AI, just her own creative spirit. She stayed for two hours last night, visiting with my husband and me, listening to music and talking about the guitar... and it turned out, she was just overwatering, or "over-parenting" the pothos.

As we sat together looking over her plant, I realized something. I spent a long time being almost angry about working at a fast food store in my 40s. I thought it was a setback, a delay. I thought I wasn’t living my path. I was wrong.

These are the people I have been blessed to meet in the most unexpected place: ⌛

✅ A young father in his 20s navigating a new family and a new pregnancy. He trusts me with his struggles, and we high-five after stomping a hard work shift together. He is real, and he is genuine. I love working with him and hearing about his life.

✅ A young woman in a cycle of trauma and abuse that would break most people. She questions her worth constantly, feeling like a burden. She sometimes sends me 50 reels a day on messenger. My heart hurts for her, but I am here to be the mirror that shows her she is enough. She's become a good friend over this last year and i keeo inviting her to come oit to the Sanctuary and play with our chickens, she declines, but i still invite her anyway hoping ine day she will accept my mundane adventure and get to have a different experience, even if only for a few hours.

❤️ The Core Tuth: It doesn’t matter where you are, you can make a difference in someone’s life just by being authentically yourself. I had no idea I would ever be working where I am in my 40s... but I thought I was wasting my skills. It turns out I am exactly where I need to be, in that scrappy little store with these amazing people who I care deeply for now.

The 'yellowing leaves' in our lives, the setbacks, the fatigue, the low self-worth, often just need a check-in and someone to sit with them in the light. ☀️

✅ I am not just building a Page; I am building a real network where we all support each other. Whether it’s on the 36-acre sanctuary or in a fast-food kitchen, I am confident now that I'm living my path. 🌱

Have you ever felt like you were in a 'setback' only to find it was a mission you were exactly right for? Tell me your story below. 👇👇

Let's inspire each other to keep going, through adversity, through apathy, through showing up for one another and sharing the burden of our struggles.

Thanks for sitting on the porch with me today. Happy Sunday everyone!

Sanctuary Updates on our 36-acres: ☀️🌿

My hearts, we were back out on the land today, and the monsoons have blessed us with rapid growth in an area we call "the fields". ☁️✨

We worked with the earth to get a beautiful cottonwood into the soil and even got a few raindrops arou d 2pm as we were finishing up!

Here is what’s happening in our corner of the White Mountains: ⌛

✅ Planting for the Future: We got one of the cottonwoods into its permanent home today! 🌿 This tree has been waiting in its pot for 2 years for this exact window of moisture. Tending to these roots with my mother was the recharge my soul needed.

✅ The Chaos Garden Success: Remember when this stretch was just barren land in the beginning of the year? ❓ Now, our chaos-gardened native seeds have exploded! We have sunflowers standing 6 feet tall and a sea of native greenery over 4 feet high. Nature knows exactly what to do when we give her the space and tend it well. ❀🌼🌻

✅ Ingenuity at Work: Monday’s wind was no joke—our chicken wire roof over the chicken coop run, with its tarps and shade cloth, behaved like a giant sail. 🌬️ It bent the wire into a drooping mess that was so low you’d hit your head. We looked at the damage and the answer came to us: a massive 4x6 support beam right in the center. Now, the airflow is back, the height is restored, and the girls are safe. We weren't planning on doing that today, and I'm so glad the solution came to us as we stapled shadecloth back to the edges. We screwed the beam right to the new chicken tower! That thing ain't going anywhere now.

❌ The Ant Offering: While planting the cottonwood, we disturbed a well-established ant hill that had moved right under the pot. To soothe them after so much devastation to their world, we offered a apologetic banquet: dried rice, breadcrumbs, raw chicken, and green apple. We live WITH them, and we honor all life in this soil, especially when we disturb their peace with our plans. ❌

❌ The Observation: They took everything but the apple. They actually dragged the apple pieces far away from the colony. ❌

✅ The Lesson: I am always suspicious when nature refuses a food source. Usually, that is a 'poison' signal. Are we paying as much attention to our own 'apples' as the ants are? 🔍❌

The Porch Update: Community First 🌪️🤝

My hearts, it has been a WEEK. From tornado cleanup at Helpnetic House to unloading donations with Mark at L&M Auto, the White Mountains community spirit is in full swing. 🛠️✨

I’m a bit wiped out today from the 9-5 and prepping for my daughter’s mid-August wedding, helping a new business get the most gorgeous cards made (at 8pm last night), and cleaning my house like a caffeinated squirrel, but I wanted to check in. 🏡💕

✅ Tuesday’s Lesson: Community is the most healing 'herb' for a weary soul. Helping neighbors is how we thrive.

✅ A Quick Reminder: Keep an eye on those clouds—the UV is still sneaky and more rain is one the way, as monsoons continue.

I’m taking a moment to breathe before my sister and niece arrive in early August.

✅ ️What are you doing to recharge your internal batteries today? 👇👇

(Shout out) Naomie Landry took a hike and got some great photos. Thank you for sharing those ❤️
Everyone, share your thoughts, plans, or pics with us in the comments!

The Heat Guide: The Monsoon UV Trap ☁☀ቑ

My hearts, we are so blessed by these rains, but we cannot be lured into a false sense of complacency just because the sky is grey.

In the White Mountains, the clouds are a 'filter,' not a shield. ☁☑

I’m seeing a high UV index today despite the monsoon cover. This is where the 'hidden burn' happens because we stop paying attention. ❀

Here is how to navigate this 'Cloudy but Dangerous' weather: ⌛

❌ DON'T assume a grey sky means 'safe.' UV rays bounce off cloud edges and can actually intensify before they hit your skin.

✅ DO keep your hydration high. (This means electrolytes, not just water!) The humidity makes us sweat, but it doesn't evaporate as fast, which can lead to rapid overheating.

❌ DON'T leave your sensitive plant bebes or pets exposed. The 'steaming' effect after a rain can wilt a garden faster than a dry heat.

✅ DO wear your wide-brimmed hats and light layers. If you can see the light, the UV can see you.

❌ DON'T leave yourself exposed; a thin long-sleeved shirt gives you far more protection than sunscreen.

When we stay informed, we thrive. I know we all want to be out in the garden during this beautiful weather, tending our plants, pulling weeds, being outdoors during the blissful cloudy days... so I urge you to stay safe out there. Our elevation has its pros and cons.

Have you ever been 'sneaky burned' on a cloudy day? 🤔
Share a picture of your burn, comment, or tip that you use to stay cool and keep your family, plants, and pets safe on these kinds of days.👇👇👇

💲BANKING UPDATE FOR SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS:💲

I just learned today... (and I always do my best to bring you the most relevant, up-to-date information on this page)..that Wells Fargo Bank has raised its minimum account balance from $500.00 to $2000.00 to avoid the $15.00 monthly fee (which used to be $10.00 last year)

What is their reason behind this massive adjustment? 🧐
"To cover operational costs in our uncertain market"
(Yes, these are the exact words the representative said to me) 😭

So, this means that they were not making enough money on YOUR money by having that $500.00 minimum. 💵
🛑So, to make it profitable for them, they are sticking it to small business owners. It is quite a filter, if you think about it. This hurts the mom and pop shops that are trying to stay afloat in a marketplace where shoppers are saving rather than spending right now.

The minimum balance requirement has jumped by 300% in one year. Think about that! 💹

In the banking industry, updates like this are often used as a tool to filter out low-revenue clients. Wells Fargo is essentially deciding that business accounts holding less than $2,000 are not profitable enough to maintain for "free". (Yes, this means you!) 🫵

🚫If keeping a $2,000 buffer hurts your business's liquidity, you do not have to accept these terms.

Many financial technology platforms and credit unions offer completely free business checking accounts with $0 minimum balance requirements. 💯

So, if you are banking with Wells Fargo, you might want to try some other options. We have a credit union right here in Snowflake. ☑️

This change went into effect in March of 2026. If you were unaware... you aren't alone.

Be vigilant, friends.
Keep track of your money, and may your business thrive regardless of what the world around us is doing.

Stay informed.
Be aware.
I will keep sharing so we all know how to navigate this strange world we're in. ❤️

Have you ever had marshmallows made from real marshmallow root? 🤔
Here at the town lab, we experimented with some kitchen chemistry last night and it was easier than I expected.

What makes these so good?
✅️ No corn syrup
✅️ No fillers
✅️ No chemicals
✅️ Made with real plants

I'll post the recipe in the comments when I get it together! Try them yourself. I think you'll be as hooked as I am.
Never going back to store bought after this!

Please forgive my kitchen 😆
I made these at 10pm... so, I wasn't thinking about how messy the counter looked when I filmed this video.

Would you try homemade marshmallows? Let me know! 👇👇😏😍🥰
