🌡️ Is the summer heat making your Parkinson’s symptoms feel worse? You’re not alone.

Many people with Parkinson’s disease have difficulty regulating their body temperature, making them more susceptible to overheating. Heat can temporarily worsen symptoms like fatigue, slowness, tremor, balance, and thinking.

As temperatures rise, remember to:
💧 Stay well hydrated.
👕 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
🧊 Keep a damp towel in the freezer and wear it around your neck when you’re outside for a quick cooling boost.
🌳 Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
🌅 Plan outdoor activities for the cooler morning or evening hours whenever possible.

These simple strategies can help you stay safer and continue enjoying the activities you love this summer.

Did you know that standing up from a chair is one of the most important movements for maintaining strength, balance, and independence?

Try adding a few sit-to-stands to your daily routine:
✅ Sit tall at the front of a sturdy chair
✅ Lean your nose over your toes
✅ Stand up tall
✅ Slowly sit back down with control

Safety First: If you feel unsteady, perform sit-to-stands next to a sturdy counter or use the arms of a stable chair for support. Always prioritize safety over speed, and stop if you feel dizzy or unsafe.

Small movements practiced consistently can make a big difference in everyday activities like getting out of bed, rising from the dinner table, or standing from the couch.

The unsung hero’s of were the support pups that were present this week!

🐾 3 Ways Service Dogs Can Help People Living with Parkinson’s disease

• Reduce anxiety and provide emotional comfort
• Encourage daily movement, routine, and social engagement
• Assist with everyday tasks and increase confidence

A well-trained service or support dog can be more than a companion — they can be an important part of living well with Parkinson’s. I was only able to capture a few but there were many serving this amazing population! 💙
