Perimenopause is the transition leading up to menopause, and it can bring changes in your menstrual cycle, sleep, temperature regulation, mood, and other aspects of your health.
Not everyone experiences the same symptoms, and symptoms can change over time.

If something feels different and you’re wondering whether it could be related to perimenopause, talk with your provider. Understanding what’s happening can help you understand your options.

A little preparation can make your next women's health appointment feel much easier.

Before you go, write down your questions, make a list of your medications and supplements, and note when symptoms started and how they've changed.
And don't worry about asking the “awkward” question.

Periods, vaginal symptoms, s*xual health, contraception, fertility, menopause, and everything in between are all part of women's health.

Your appointment is your time to ask.

Today is National Mammography Day, a reminder to make breast health part of your routine.

Mammograms can help detect breast changes before they can be felt, but knowing when to screen depends on your age, personal history, risk factors, and current screening recommendations.

If you’re not sure whether you’re due, don’t guess.

Talk with your provider about the screening schedule that’s right for you.

A reminder today could lead to an important appointment tomorrow.

You felt a lump. Now what?

First, take a breath. Breast tissue can naturally feel lumpy, and many breast lumps are not cancer.

What matters is paying attention to what's normal for you. If you notice a new or persistent lump or another breast change that feels different from your normal, it's worth talking with your healthcare provider.

You don't need to figure out what it is yourself. Your provider can examine the area and determine whether additional evaluation is needed.

Don’t panic. Don’t ignore it. Get it checked.

Vaginal dryness is common, and it can happen for many different reasons.

Hormonal changes during pregnancy, breastfeeding, perimenopause, and menopause can play a role. Medications, certain health conditions, and irritation can also contribute. If dryness is persistent, uncomfortable or making s*x painful, you don't have to simply live with it.

Your OB/GYN can help determine what may be contributing and talk with you about options that may help.

Breast cancer screening isn’t one-size-fits-all.

Your age, personal history, family history and other risk factors can all play a role in determining what screening plan makes sense for you. And “average risk” doesn’t mean no risk, it simply means your overall risk profile falls within a particular range.

If you’re not sure when you should be screened or whether you may benefit from additional evaluation, talk with your provider. They can help you understand your individual risk and the screening approach that’s right for you.
Know your risk. Know your plan.

Yes, vaginas have a natural scent, and it can change.

Your period, s*x, exercise, and sweating can all temporarily affect vaginal odor. A change doesn’t automatically mean something is wrong or that you’re “unclean.”

But if you notice a new, strong, or persistent odor, especially along with unusual discharge, itching, irritation, or discomfort- it’s worth checking in with your OB/GYN.

And skip the scented products and douching. If something is off, masking the odor won’t address the underlying cause.

Leak a little when you cough, laugh, sneeze or exercise? Or sometimes feel like you can’t make it to the bathroom in time?

Bladder leaks are common, and they can happen for different reasons—including changes associated with pregnancy and childbirth, pelvic floor function, aging and menopause.

But common doesn’t mean inevitable. Depending on what’s causing your symptoms, treatment options may include lifestyle changes, pelvic floor therapy, medications or other treatments.

If bladder leaks are getting in the way of your life, talk to your Axia provider about your options.

Bleeding after s*x can be surprising—and understandably concerning.

There are several possible causes, including vaginal dryness or irritation, infection or inflammation, changes to the cervix, and hormonal changes. It isn’t always a sign of something serious, but recurring or persistent bleeding deserves a conversation with your provider—especially if it’s heavy or accompanied by pain or other symptoms.

You don’t have to figure out the cause yourself. Your OB/GYN can help.

Changes in your hair can be another unexpected part of perimenopause and menopause.

Hormonal shifts can affect hair growth, thickness and shedding—but hormones aren’t the only possible cause. Stress, nutrition, thyroid changes, medications, genetics and other factors may also play a role.

If you’re noticing significant or persistent changes in your hair, bring them up with your healthcare provider. Understanding what’s behind the change can help you explore what options may be available.
