(SNCNJ) is a 501©3 organization and an affiliate chapter of Sisters Network® Inc., a National African American Breast Cancer Survivorship Organization headquartered in Houston, TX. SNCNJ was formed in January 2000 and serves as a critical resource for women battling the dreaded disease of breast cancer. Because African American women have the highest mortality rate of any race, the organization's

mission is to alert families, residents, communities, and the media to the devastation breast cancer causes in the African American community. SNCNJ has provided eleven years of breast health advocacy, education, and survivor-support to the Central New Jersey Community. The four SNCNJ founders, Dorothy Reed, Pearl Grace (deceased), LaReatha Payne, and Rosa Davis, through their collective experiences with surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, provide vast knowledge and add their personalized perspective of the breast cancer experience to the organization. The current staff (six persons - four are survivors) provides daily hands-on services for the many callers, visitors, and breast cancer survivors who contact their office. Each inquiry, every caller and visitor, receives personal assistance and vital information. SNCNJ is continuing to offer many needed services for all age groups, including breast health education and awareness, resource information, and breast cancer assistance for qualified women during chemo and radiation treatments. Additionally, we offer targeted education programs such as "The Young But Not The Reckless," a program for teens and college students; the "Silver Foxes" program, designed for Seniors 62 + years; and seminars and workshops for women 25 to 39 years. Survivorship meetings (for breast cancer survivors only) are held every 2nd Monday of each month at our facility in Somerset.

The Sisters were honored guests at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Hightstown, led by Rev. Bernard Fowler. For nine years, Deaconess Carrie Johnson and the Deaconess Ministry have hosted the annual Worship in Pink Service. This year’s theme, “Enriching Lives Through Worship, Giving & Serving,” was brought to life through a donation to Sister2Sister, supporting minority and underserved breast cancer survivors.
