Here's something really important to understand: tics are involuntary.

That means the person with Tourette Syndrome is not doing it on purpose. Their brain simply sends the signal and it happens without thought or choice. Please remember this the next time you see someone with TS.

Our Outreach Specialist, Claudia Lijo was honored to receive a proclamation in Branchburg recognizing Tourette Syndrome Awareness alongside her son, Sebastian Lijo.

"Grateful to stand with fellow advocates and community members, Russell and Laurie Lazovik, whose daughter Marissa’s heartfelt words reminded us why awareness, acceptance, and advocacy matter so deeply. Thank you to Mayor James Schworn and the Township Committee for supporting the TS community and helping amplify these important voices." 💙

What does Tourette Syndrome look like in adulthood?

One-third of adults with TS see their symptoms improve. One-third stay about the same. And one-third may experience worsening symptoms. Childhood tics don't predict how TS will present later in life. Every journey is different.

Thank you to Sam Regen for his inspiring presentations during the Living Lessons program at Lazar Middle School! Through honesty, energy, and personal experiences with Tourette Syndrome, Sam encouraged students to embrace their individuality and turn challenges into strengths. Special thanks to Judy Gothelf for inviting us to be part of this meaningful program once again.

Congratulations to Sam on earning his Master’s Degree in the Art of Teaching from The College of New Jersey. We can’t wait to see the impact he’ll make as an educator!

There is no blood test, scan, or quick diagnosis for Tourette Syndrome. 📋 To be diagnosed, a person needs at least two motor tics and one vocal tic, observed over the course of a year. This is part of why so many people with TS go undiagnosed for so long. This , let's make sure more people know what to look for.
