Did you know that men, on average, live about 5 years less than women and have higher death rates for many leading causes of death, including heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and su***de? This Men’s Health Month, let’s change the conversation. Preventive care saves lives.

Here are a few simple steps men can take today:

Schedule your annual checkup, don’t wait until something feels wrong.
Know your numbers, blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, and weight.
Move your body, aim for at least 30 minutes of activity most days.
Eat for your heart. More fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and less processed food.
Talk about mental health. Stress, anxiety, and depression are health issues too.
Get recommended screenings including prostate and colorectal cancer screenings based on your age and risk factors.

📅 This month, make one appointment, start one healthy habit, or encourage one man in your life to prioritize his health.

🧠 June is Alzheimer's and Brain Health Awareness Month 🧠

Your brain is your body's control center. It's responsible for your thoughts, memories, emotions, and daily activities. Taking steps to protect your brain health today can help support cognitive function and overall well-being throughout your life.

Here are a few ways to keep your brain healthy:
✔️ Stay physically active
✔️ Eat a balanced, nutritious diet
✔️ Get enough quality sleep
✔️ Challenge your mind with learning and activities
✔️ Stay socially connected
✔️ Manage chronic conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease

Brain health matters at every age. Small, healthy habits can help reduce the risk of cognitive decline and improve your quality of life for years to come.

This June, make brain health a priority, for yourself and those you care about.

Good news for coffee lovers. Your daily cup of coffee may offer more than just a morning boost! Research suggests that moderate coffee consumption may be linked to a lower risk of several health conditions, including type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, liver disease, and stroke.

Some studies have also found that coffee may help improve mood and may be associated with a lower risk of depression. In fact, drinking 3–4 cups of coffee per day has been linked to certain health benefits for many adults.

However, coffee isn't for everyone. Too much caffeine can cause:
☕ Anxiety or jitters
☕ Headaches
☕ Increased heart rate
☕ Heartburn or reflux symptoms
☕ Increased urinary urgency or frequency

Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should limit caffeine intake to about 200 mg per day (roughly 12 ounces of coffee).

The bottom line: For most healthy adults, enjoying coffee in moderation can be part of a healthy lifestyle. As with many things, balance is key!
What's your favorite way to enjoy your coffee? ☕❤️

🌟 Meet the Staff Monday 🌟
This week, we're proud to highlight our Case Management, Utilization Review, and Discharge Planning Nurses. This team works hard behind the scenes to ensure our patients receive the care they need while helping coordinate a safe and successful transition home.
✅ Utilization Review
These nurses review medical records and work with insurance providers to ensure hospital stays and services meet medical necessity guidelines. Their work helps secure coverage and reimbursement, allowing patients to access needed care while supporting the hospital's financial health.
✅ Case Management & Discharge Planning
They work directly with patients, families, providers, and community resources to coordinate care and plan for discharge. Whether arranging home health services, medical equipment, rehabilitation placement, or other support services, they help ensure patients have the resources they need after leaving the hospital.
💙 In short, they help make sure that our patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time. All while providing guidance, support, and coordination every step of the way.
Please join us in thanking this dedicated team for the important role they play in helping our patients achieve the best possible outcomes! 👏
