🤠 This past Saturday, some of our Dismas residents had the opportunity to attend the Midwest Invitational Rodeo!

Recovery and successful reentry are about so much more than meeting basic needs. They're also about creating positive experiences, building healthy connections, and finding joy in everyday life.

Our residents enjoyed an evening filled with exciting events, community, and a celebration of the rich history and culture of African American cowboys and cowgirls. Experiences like these help remind us that everyone deserves opportunities to make memories, connect with others, and be part of their community.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this experience possible! ❤️

Just a few weeks ago, we asked our community to help us send some incredible young men from DePaul Academy into their next chapter with the essentials they deserve.

You responded.

Because of your generosity, we were able to fill 14 duffel bags with hygiene items, socks, underwear, and other essentials that will help make the transition a little easier.

Every toothbrush, every pair of socks, every gift card, and every donation sends the same message:

You matter. We're rooting for you.

To everyone who donated, shared our post, or encouraged others to give—thank you. Your kindness reminds us, once again, that this community shows up.

Thank you for helping us turn compassion into action. ❤️

☀️☁️⛈️ Today’s Children’s Group: My Feelings Are Like the Weather ⛈️☁️☀️

Today our little ones explored their emotions by talking about how our feelings can be a lot like the weather. Sometimes we feel bright and sunny, sometimes we have cloudy days, and sometimes we experience stormy feelings—and that’s okay!

Together, we created weather-themed crafts to represent different emotions and talked about how every feeling is normal. We also discussed healthy ways to express our emotions and reminded each other that, just like the weather, our feelings can change.

Helping children recognize, name, and talk about their emotions builds confidence, resilience, and healthy coping skills that will support them as they grow.

We had so much fun creating, learning, and sharing together! 💙🌈
