Today, we’re celebrating Sam Fuller MD Plastic Surgery who joined South Bend Orthopaedics ten years ago.

After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, he earned a doctorate of medicine at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship at the prestigious The Curtis National Hand Center in Baltimore.

He is one of the most versatile and highly-rated surgeons. As a Board-Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with Subspecialty Certification in Surgery of the Hand, Dr. Fuller’s practice gracefully weaves together complex solutions to diverse medical problems, from urgent to elective care and from traumatic upper extremity injuries to cosmetic enhancements.

August is Neurosurgery Awareness Month. Neurological Surgeon Dr. Andrew Losiniecki and Orthopedic Spine Surgeon Dr. Deepak Reddy provide both surgical and nonsurgical treatments for issues that affect the nervous system.

Some of the most common conditions that Dr. Losiniecki and Dr. Reddy treat include chronic pain in the back or neck, degenerative disc disease, disc herniations, spinal stenosis, spinal tumors, spinal trauma, scoliois/kyphosis and problematic bone spurs.

Today, we’re celebrating Dr. Henry Kim who joined South Bend Orthopaedics twenty-five years ago! After earning his undergraduate degree at Stanford University, he graduated with a medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine.

He is currently one of the orthopedic team physicians for the University of Notre Dame and has been a team physician for the New York Yankees, New York Knicks, New York Liberty and New York Empire State Games. As a native of South Bend, he knows our community well, so it’s no surprise to see how much his patients love him.

Dr. Kim is fellowship-trained and board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. After studying and training on both the East and West Coasts, he says, “I chose to return home to practice medicine. When I started practicing as an orthopedic surgeon, there was one obvious choice of which practice to join – South Bend Orthopaedics. This is my hometown, and I feel that it is a wonderful place in which to live and work. I feel a great responsibility and a unique, shared connection to the people of Michiana. It is an honor and privilege to play a role in the health and well-being of people’s lives.”

Meet our research team. Our Director of Research, Derek Yocum, Ph.D., leads a team of three researchers in the Todd Graham Fellowship program. All three research fellows graduated from Notre Dame last year and will attend medical school next year. In addition to conducting research, they also job shadow our orthopaedic physicians and support them in publishing their work.

Jacob, Brennan and Lilah are our research fellows this year. Jacob graduated with a degree in neuroscience and behavior and previously conducted psychology research on campus. As a science pre-professional major, Brennan performed vector surveillance research in our community with a Notre Dame biology faculty member. While earning a double major in biology and philosophy, Lilah conducted virology research at Notre Dame and plans to pursue an M.D./Ph.D. next year.
