The BRAIN Lab, in collaboration with Autism Society of Indiana, is hosting a Sensory-Friendly Touch-A-Truck that is inclusive to all! Attached is the social story intended to to help children feel more comfortable and confident before the event!

This event will be on Saturday, August 29th from 10am-12pm at the Veldman Family Psychology Clinic located at 501 N Hill St, South Bend, IN 46601.

Our team enjoyed meeting families, sharing information about autism research, and engaging with the community through a fun photo booth. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table. Congratulations to BRAIN Lab undergraduate researchers Emma Simard, Tierneey Gasaway, and Daniel Nguyen on presenting at the Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium at Notre Dame! Their poster reviewed two recent BRAIN Lab publications examining race- and sex-based biases in the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) for youth ages 5–19. The BRAIN Lab, in collaboration with the Autism Society of Indiana will be hosting a Sensory-Friendly Touch-A-Truck Event that is inclusive to all! Enjoy a calmer atmosphere with limited vehicle noise, sensory aids, and a quiet rest area available throughout the event. Families and children of all ages can climb aboard, explore, and interact with a variety of vehicles at their own pace.
This event will be at the Veldman Family Psychology Clinic located at 501 N Hill St, South Bend, IN 46601.

Are you looking for activities to do with your autistic child? The TREAT study at the Veldman Family Psychology Clinic is a paid research study for children ages 3-5 years old, and we are currently looking for children with an autism diagnosis. Your child will do activities like play with bubbles, watch a video of their caregiver smiling, and complete an autism assessment to confirm their diagnosis. You may request a clinical report and recommendations. This study involves two 2.5-hour visits at the ND Veldman Clinic (501 N Hill St, South Bend) and pays $15 per hour.
