Chima is the CEO and founder of the private practice Kabod Counseling, helping teens and families to heal one at a time. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist in both the state of New York and Florida. She is also a certified clinical trauma professional, an EMDR, and trauma-informed therapist who specializes in working with adolescent girls & young adult women that have a history of tra

uma. Chima has a passion for children in the foster care system. She has an extensive history of working with adolescents and their families as an intensive family therapist providing in-home therapy, she worked as a clinical director in a juvenile detention center and she has worked as a consultant and therapist at an all-girls therapeutic group home. Currently, along with the private practice, Chima serves as a comprehensive behavioral assessor providing assessments with recommendations interventions for the courts and providers of adolescents being taken out of their homes due to abuse or neglect. She is a clinical supervisor who provides clinical supervision to interns preparing for licensure with the state of FL. She is a consultant and provides culturally competent and trauma-informed training for staff in non-profit mental health organizations. She also provides weekly teen girls support groups every Tuesday at 6 pm helping teens in their transition in middle and high school. She integrates Faith-based therapy, Solution Focused Therapy Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness to facilitate the process of emotional and physical healing from trauma. Chima advocates for the education of trauma-informed practices in mental health organizations serving children in foster care and advocates awareness of the importance of mental health among people of color to connect minorities to culturally appropriate mental health. Chima is especially passionate to help adolescent girls and adult women overcome a history of sexual trauma. Instead of feeling damaged, she is eager for young girls and women to enhance their true, dignified identity and worth as overcomers. Her therapeutic focus is to assist her clients to reconstruct a positive sense of self, gain safety, and reconnect to build intimacy in relationships and fulfilled life. Chima's mission and passion are supporting teens and families in navigating through issues of trauma, anxiety, depression, and difficult transitions.
