Loomis Communities’ 2026 Spring Reception
The 2026 Spring Reception was hosted at Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing in Springfield on Thursday, May 14th. The event is the only annual fundraiser for all the Loomis communities and its many residents, team members, families, business and non-profit partners, and friends. In addition to celebrating honorees and recipients of the Elvira Whiting Ball Award and the Award for Inspirational Aging, the 160+ guests were treated to wonderful catering provided by each of the 3 Loomis Communities and beautiful music from Frank Newton and Jeremy Milligan. Proceeds from this year’s event will help fund and implement enhanced technology strategies and systems for both residents and team members at all three Loomis communities (Applewood in Amherst, Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing, and Loomis Village in South Hadley).
Elvira Whiting Ball Award
The Elvira Whiting Ball Award is named for the founding leader of The Loomis Communities and is presented to an individual or group that has advanced the mission of The Loomis Communities to open doors to worlds of positive aging by virtue of their outstanding efforts in service to older adults. This year, Loomis proudly honored and recognized the team from Herbert J. Sims & Company for their 30-plus years of work on behalf of Loomis and countless other senior living communities, non-profit organizations, and healthcare providers across the country. Together – Bills Sims, Aaron Rulnick, Jim Bodine, and others – have shown an during commitment to organizations like Loomis, touching countless lives, and expanding opportunities for generations of older adults and those we serve.
Award for Inspirational Aging
The Award for Inspirational Aging honors a Loomis resident (or residents) who embodies the vision of a world where older adults lead active, engaged, and inspired lives. Loomis was proud to present the 2026 award to Loomis Village resident Carolyn Hoyt. After a long and successful career in financial systems and critical volunteer work in the social and racial justice arenas, Carolyn moved to Loomis Village in 2010 and picked up right where her professional career left off. She has served and led both Loomis Village and broader Loomis communities’ efforts in governance as well as mission-based initiatives. She has led by example and improved the lives of many – young and older – along the way.
