🌿When your thoughts are racing, you feel disconnected, or everything just feels like too much, try this grounding exercise to gently bring your attention out of your head and back into the present moment.

You don’t have to solve everything right now. Sometimes the next step is simply noticing:
✨ Where am I?
✨ What can I feel?
✨ What can I see?
✨ What is happening right now?

Save this one for the next time your nervous system needs a little anchor. 🤍

Anxiety is often the loudest part of the experience — but not always the whole story.

Sometimes underneath it is grief that hasn’t had space to be felt, needs that have gone unmet, fear of conflict or abandonment, a lack of safety, or the pressure to stay in control.

Instead of only asking, “How do I make this anxiety go away?” it can be helpful to ask:

“What might this anxiety be trying to protect me from — or point me toward?”

You don’t have to have the answer right away. Curiosity is a good place to start. 🤍

Healing isn’t linear. Some days may feel like meaningful progress, while others bring back emotions, patterns, or challenges you thought you had already worked through.

That doesn’t mean you’re starting over.

Healing often involves revisiting familiar places with new awareness, stronger coping skills, and greater self-compassion. Progress can include forward movement, setbacks, rest, reflection, and trying again.

Be patient with yourself in the process. 🤍

Mental exhaustion doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes it looks like struggling with tasks that are usually easy, pulling away from people, or wondering where your motivation went.

If you’ve been feeling drained lately, it may not mean you need to try harder. You might need a little more rest, support, or breathing room. 💛

Therapy isn’t only for crisis. You don’t have to know exactly what to talk about, have the “right” diagnosis, or wait until things get really bad to reach out.

There are a lot of myths about what therapy is supposed to look like — and sometimes those myths keep people from getting support that could actually help.

Swipe through for a little myth-busting. đź’›

Grief can make people unsure of what to say—so sometimes they say nothing at all.

But for someone who is grieving, avoiding the subject can feel even more isolating. You don’t need the perfect words. Often, simple acknowledgment and presence matter most.

Try saying their person’s name. Ask how they’re doing today. Share a memory. And make space for them to talk when they’re ready.

Support doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful. 💛

At Mountain Valley Counseling, we’re here to help you navigate grief, loss, and the emotions that come with them.
