People assume the most important thing must be whether your disability goes away in heaven.

And that's a big thing, but there are other big things to think about. How God holds us in heaven doesn't have anything to do with our physical ability. Our hearts can turn to Him.

Sister Whitmer prepares these messages herself as part of her work as a missionary. They take a lot of decisions since she does it all through yes/no questions. She says she does it so folks can see that people with disabilities can teach and lead, not just listen and follow.

Some people say it doesn't count as her message if she got help. But I give my other kids suggestions on how to word things all the time and that's not a problem.

Disability doesn't put your life on hold until you're "fixed". Sister Whitmer is a great example of that!

Sister Whitmer authors these messages to help people know that disability doesn't mean you can't be a disciple. It doesn't mean you can only listen and learn, you can also lead and teach.

Disability doesn't disqualify for discipleship.

Also people say things in extreme ways online, and it takes a lot of work not to be extreme back at them. 😁😇

Sister Whitmer shares these messages because she wants everyone to understand that people with disabilities can teach and lead, they can choose for themselves even if it looks to you like they can't.

We all need to keep an eye out for the lost sheep. If we're not careful, people with disabilities can be sitting right next to us at church and still feel lost.

It's a comfort to know the Savior is always there and always remembers each of us, but he also calls on us to remember each other.

Sister Whitmer chooses these thoughts for herself. She uses yes/no with a partner giving her suggestions until she hears what she wants to say. It takes work and dedication, but she wants more folks to know that people with disabilities can understand and make choices for themselves.
