Lake Link’s expanded service is making it easier for patients across the South Shore to get to Barton Memorial Hospital and other outpatient services, helping remove transportation barriers and connect more people with the care they need.

We’re proud to be part of a community working together to make transportation more accessible and connect people to the places and services they rely on.

A lump, pressure, or discomfort in your abdomen or groin could be more than just a pulled muscle, it could be a hernia.

For many people, minimally invasive surgery can help relieve symptoms, with benefits that may include less pain, smaller scars, and a quicker return to daily activities compared to traditional surgery.

You don't have to live with discomfort or pain. If you think you may have a hernia, talking with a healthcare provider can help you understand your symptoms and explore your options.

Cyclosporiasis is an illness you get from the parasite Cyclospora cayetanensis (C. cayetanensis or Cyclospora). It usually spreads from contaminated water or food. Symptoms usually start within a week of ingesting the parasite. The main symptom is watery diarrhea. But it can also cause other stomach problems.

A Cyclospora infection sometimes goes away on its own. But if you don’t treat it, your symptoms may last for a month or longer. This puts you at risk of severe dehydration and other complications. It’s a good idea to check with a healthcare provider to see if you need antibiotics.

Go to the nearest emergency room if you have a weakened immune system and have any symptoms of infectious disease. You should also go if you have signs of severe dehydration, including confusion, dizziness, dark-colored p*e or you’re not p*eing as much as you should.

You can help avoid cyclosporiasis by:
• Cooking fruits and vegetables to at least 158 degrees Fahrenheit (70 degrees Celsius)
• Thoroughly washing or p*eling fresh fruits and veggies before eating them
• Washing your hands with soap and water after using the bathroom and before, during and after food prep
• Washing all food prep surfaces, dishes and utensils with hot water and soap after use
• Avoid swimming if you have diarrhea, and waiting at least two weeks to swim after it goes away
• Avoid drinking untreated water or using it to cook

Between fireworks, concerts, and days out on the boat, summer in Tahoe is one of the loudest seasons of the year. A concert can hit 90–120 dB, and fireworks can climb as high as 175, both above the threshold where hearing damage begins.

Protecting your hearing doesn't take much: wear earplugs at loud events, step away for a short break every hour, and pay attention if conversations start sounding muffled or you notice ringing afterward. Catching it early makes all the difference.
