Motivation Monday: brain-healthy routines do not have to be complicated. Take a walk at a cooler time of day, protect your sleep schedule, stay socially connected, keep up with blood pressure and cholesterol care, and challenge your mind with something meaningful. Consistency matters more than perfection. Ask your physician what is appropriate for your health and mobility.

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY

Your mental health deserves care every day. Today, South Miami Neurology encourages you to make time for habits that support your emotional well-being:

• Move your body: Walk, dance, stretch, or enjoy another activity you love.
• Prioritize sleep: Keep a consistent schedule and aim for 7–9 hours each night.
• Eat well and stay hydrated: Choose balanced meals and drink water throughout the day.
• Stay connected: Spend time with friends, family, and people who support you.
• Make time to unwind: Try deep breathing, meditation, music, or a favorite hobby.

Start small, even a short walk or a conversation with a friend can be a meaningful step. If sadness, anxiety, or stress persists or interferes with daily life, reach out to a healthcare professional. Take care of your mind. Make time for yourself.

Patient Testimonial
I am a patient of Dr. Pandey. In 2024, his office staff was able to coordinate and help me receive appropriate treatment, including Leqembi infusion for my condition. The staff at the infusion center have been great, and I have completed 18 months of anti-amyloid infusion therapy. I am eternally grateful to Dr. Pandey and his team for all that has been done on my behalf.

AI model predicts next-day migraine risk with 91.2% precision in large study

A new study analyzing a dataset from the Nerivio app from more than 53,000 people with migraine could predict whether a person would experience a migraine the following day with 91.2% precision. The model found that a person’s headache severity and patterns over the previous 30 days were more informative than prodromal (early) symptoms immediately before an attack.

The researchers highlight that the technology is intended to help people prepare, not diagnose or change migraine treatment, and note that further research is still necessary.

People should remember that migraine-prediction apps are tools, not diagnostic devices. Their predictions are based on the information and algorithms available to them and may not accurately predict what will happen for every individual.

Neurologists are learning that many adults with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) also live with conditions like sleep apnea, migraine, or autism spectrum disorder.

ADHD doesn't always tell the whole story. Neurologists are learning that many adults with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) also live with conditions like sleep apnea, migraine, or autism spectrum disorder. Treating these coexisting conditions may help ease symptoms and improve daily life. Learn more about the connections and what they could mean for care: https://hubs.la/Q04yXVxh0

OCTOBER IS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

At South Miami Neurology, we stand with those facing breast cancer, celebrate survivors, honor those we have lost, and recognize the families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals supporting them.

Let awareness inspire action. Talk with your primary care physician or OB-GYN about your personal risk and recommended screenings, and report any new breast changes promptly. Mammograms can help detect breast cancer early.

Support can be simple: offer a ride to an appointment, bring a meal, or take time to listen. A little kindness can mean a great deal. Awareness. Compassion. Support. This month and every month.

A MIGRAINE DIARY CAN REVEAL PATTERNS
Migraine is more than a bad headache. Attacks may involve nausea, light or sound sensitivity, visual changes, dizziness, or difficulty concentrating. A simple diary can help you record timing, duration, possible triggers, symptoms, and medication use. Bring it to your appointment so your neurologist can better understand the pattern and discuss appropriate options.

Today, South Miami Neurology is celebrating the science behind coffee and the brain.

-Alertness and focus: Caffeine blocks adenosine, a chemical that signals sleepiness, helping you feel more awake and attentive.

- Possible long-term benefits: Studies have linked coffee consumption with a lower risk of developing Parkinson’s disease. This association is promising, but it does not prove that coffee prevents Parkinson’s.

Enjoy your cup thoughtfully! Keep added sugar light, avoid caffeine late in the day, and pay attention to how you feel. Too much can cause anxiety or disrupt sleep—and quality sleep is essential for brain health.

Today is National Women’s Health & Fitness Day—a reminder for women of all ages and abilities to make their well-being a priority.

Regular physical activity can support heart, bone, brain, and mental health while helping maintain strength, balance, mobility, and independence. Choose activities that fit your health needs and fitness level, whether that means walking, swimming, stretching, strength training, or another form of movement you enjoy.

In South Florida, exercise during cooler mornings or evenings, stay hydrated, and take breaks as needed. If headaches, dizziness, numbness, weakness, balance problems, or other neurological symptoms make it difficult to stay active, speak with a physician.

Your health is worth the time. Call South Miami Neurology at 305-665-6501 or visit southmiamineurology.net.
