A little about the person behind Hatch Sports Therapy.
I’m Joel Hatch, a licensed massage therapist, longtime strength coach, trail runner, and owner of Hatch Sports Therapy in South Ogden.
My career started in sports medicine and human performance more than 20 years ago. I studied exercise science at Weber State University, completed graduate-level coursework in exercise physiology at the University of Utah, and worked in rehabilitation, biomechanics, strength training, and return-to-sport programming.
From 2010 to 2022, I owned Bomber Athlete, where I coached athletes, runners, outdoor enthusiasts, and active adults. Over time, my work shifted more toward mobility, recovery, pain, and the hands-on side of helping people move better.
I graduated from Intermountain Massage Therapy College in 2022 and opened Hatch Sports Therapy soon after.
Today, I work with active adults who want more than a standard massage routine. Some are runners, cyclists, skiers, lifters, or weekend warriors. Others are dealing with neck pain, back pain, headaches, tight hips, sore shoulders, or the accumulating wear that comes from work, training, stress, and getting older without becoming especially interested in slowing down.
My sessions may include sports massage, deep tissue work, assisted stretching, cupping, Graston therapy, kinesiology taping, and simple movement or strength homework. The goal is not to throw every technique at you like I’m emptying a toolbox onto the floor. It is to figure out what makes sense for your body and your goals.
Outside the treatment room, I’ve spent many years in the trail-running community. I helped organize races, co-founded the Northern Utah Trail Series, and was a co-host of the TrailManners podcast and TaperUp podcast. I’ve run everything from trail marathons to 100-mile races, which means I understand both the appeal of endurance sports and the questionable decisions that often accompany them.
At the center of all my work is one idea: pain may be the reason someone comes in, but getting back to life is the real goal.
That might mean running again, skiing without hesitation, turning your head while driving, sleeping without shoulder pain, or getting through a workday without feeling like your back has filed a formal complaint.
That is the work I enjoy most.
