Do you ever get the feeling that something bad is about to happen even when everything seems completely fine? Maybe someone you love doesn't answer their phone and your mind immediately goes to the worst-case scenario. Maybe life is actually going well...which somehow makes you feel like you're waiting for the other shoe to drop. Or maybe you get such a strong "gut feeling" that something is wrong that you start wondering: Is this anxiety or is my intuition trying to warn me? That feeling can be incredibly convincing. Our newest blog explores why anxiety and OCD can make possibilities feel like predictions, why checking and reassurance help temporarily (but can make the cycle worse), and what it actually means to learn to tolerate uncertainty. Because feeling like something bad is going to happen doesn't necessarily mean something bad is happening. đź”— Read the full article:

Do you ever feel like something bad is about to happen, even when everything seems fine? Learn why anxiety and OCD can create a powerful sense of danger and why feeling unsafe doesn't always mean you are unsafe.

Reassurance feels good...

for a little while.

Then OCD asks another question.

"What if they don't know everything?"

"What if they're wrong?"

"What if I explained it incorrectly?"

Reassurance isn't ineffective because you're doing it wrong.

It's ineffective because OCD rarely accepts certainty for long.

That's why ERP focuses on changing your response to uncertainty instead of eliminating it.

This is one of the biggest myths about OCD.

Having an intrusive thought does not mean you secretly want it to happen.

Research shows that unwanted intrusive thoughts are incredibly common.

The difference is that people with OCD often feel compelled to analyze the thought, prove it isn't true, or figure out what it means.

The thought isn't the problem.

The endless investigation becomes the problem.

Can OCD make you feel like a bad person?

Yes and for many people, that's exactly what OCD targets.

OCD doesn't just create fear about what might happen. It often attacks your character, convincing you that an intrusive thought says something terrible about who you are.

If you've ever wondered, "What if I'm actually a bad person?" you're far from alone.

Having intrusive thoughts doesn't determine your character. How distressing they feel often reflects what you value most.

Read more about why OCD creates these fears in our latest blog. đź’™

How do you know if you're in the wrong relationship? It's one of the most common questions people ask—and one of the hardest to answer. Sometimes relationship concerns point to real incompatibility or unhealthy dynamics. But sometimes the search for certainty becomes the problem. If you've ever found yourself asking: • What if I'm settling? • What if I don't love them enough? • What if my anxiety is actually intuition? • What if I'm with the wrong person? This article explores the difference between healthy relationship concerns and the obsessive doubt that can happen with Relationship OCD. You don't have to figure it out alone. 🔗 Read more:

One of the biggest myths about ERP is that there's a "perfect" way to do it.

There isn't.

ERP isn't about reaching a certain anxiety level or completing every exposure flawlessly.

It's about practicing a different response to uncertainty over time.

If you've been worrying about whether you're doing ERP "correctly," our newest blog is for you.

One of the trickiest things about OCD is that it can attach itself to almost anything, including recovery.

We've worked with many clients who begin asking:

"What if I'm doing ERP wrong?"

"What if I'm not trying hard enough?"

"What if I forgot something important?"

These aren't signs that you're failing therapy.

Sometimes they're signs that OCD has simply found a new topic.

Many people worry about whether they're "doing therapy right."

For people with OCD, however, that question can become much bigger.

Instead of occasional uncertainty, it can become:

• constant self-monitoring
• replaying therapy sessions
• worrying about saying the "right" thing
• trying to complete ERP perfectly

The goal of therapy isn't to eliminate every doubt.

It's to learn how to respond differently when doubt shows up.

We explore this in more detail in our newest blog.
