Kalia came to Dr. Mia at MOTI Highland Park just 7weeks post-op ACL repair last year. Her surgery was done at CHLA. She had anticipated entering South Pasadena High School as a Freshman and playing competitive basketball but tore her left ACL that summer. She had begun PT elsewhere but her surgeon was not pleased with her outcomes to that point which brought her parents to find MOTI. By 6 months post-op, Kalia was doing non-contact basketball drills, and at 9 months, she was cleared by both her surgeon and Mia to return to full contact games! This Summer she was able to play in both JV and Varsity summer league games for South Pasadena High School, and also Yonsei Basketball and the Pasadena Bruins. Wishing her an awesome Sophomore year! Special thank you to her parents, Reiko and Scott, for trusting Mia with the recovery of their daughter.

Dr. Jayme Barr earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Chapman University. She attended UC Irvine for her undergraduate education and received a BA in Drama. Jayme specializes in pelvic floor physical therapy as well treating orthopedic patients.

Jayme’s passion for pelvic health began after several years of treating women in their 60s-80s whose orthopedic issues may likely have been prevented if they received pregnancy or postpartum care when their children were originally born. Her goal is to educate young people to understand the importance of putting their health first so they can stay healthy for many years to come. Working with her is like opening a health & wellness retirement account!

Jayme received her pelvic floor training from Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. She has taken several training classes including: Pelvic Floor Level 1, Pelvic Floor Level 2A, Pregnancy Rehabilitation, Postpartum Rehabilitation, and Athletic Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation.

In her spare time, Jayme enjoys teaching dance, weight lifting, meditating in the sun, traveling, binge watching Netflix, eating Ben & Jerry’s, and spending time with her family, friends and dog.

Dr Megan O’Linn is the Regional Clinic Director at MOTI Physiotherapy.

A SoCal native, Megan went on to be a Division 1 water polo athlete at University of Hawaii at Manoa, where she met her husband. Her husband and family are local to Maui and the fires have impacted several friends who have lost homes or know someone that has lost everything. Megan wanted to do something to help this cause that is near and dear to her heart.

Megan has organized an amazing community event coming up on Saturday, 10/7 as MOTI’s “PT Day of Service” in honor of National Physical Therapy month (October!).

POV: You finally found your friendly neighborhood pelvic floor physical therapist and she is orienting you to the anatomy!

The pelvis I am holding is female. The second image gives a great visual of how these muscles are layered. You can also see the blue cl****is, the Bartholin’s gland (lil pink pea for lubrication) and the vestibular bulbs (female erectile tissue!).

The third image is of male pelvic floor anatomy. 2 holes. Muscles to help with pe**le er****on. Te**es. Vascular structures and glands are not pictured here, however it does show how muscles are woven into the thick fascia that connects and suspends. Here you can see how very similar they are, but also how very different they are.

One similarity: both men and women benefit from pelvic floor physical therapy.

Most people don’t know these muscles and their related structures exist. Knowledge is power, and increasing awareness is crucial to help people seek care they need.
