National Wellness Month is a great reminder to check in on your whole health – including your mental health.

Taking care of your mental health can help you manage stress, navigate life’s challenges and improve your quality of life. To get started:

- Talk to your primary care provider (P*P) about how you are feeling
- Get mental health care, such as talk therapy or medicine
- Add self-care habits to your routine

HPSM can help connect you to programs, covered services and resources to support your mental health.

To learn more, call HPSM’s Health Promotion Unit at 615-616-2165 or visit www.hpsm.org/member/health-tips/mental-health.

Happy Independence Day!

Our country was built on the idea that out of many, we are one. Welcoming people with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives makes our communities stronger.

As we celebrate, let’s continue learning from one another and building a future where everyone has the opportunity to belong and thrive.

With the Independence Day holiday coming up, here are some tips to help your family celebrate safely:

• Stay safe in the sun! Kids older than 6 months and adults should apply sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher to all exposed skin areas. Keep babies who are six months old or younger out of direct sunlight.
• If you’re at the pool, lake or beach, always supervise children closely and make sure they wear a life jacket. Foam toys and air-filled floaties should not replace a life jacket.
• Keep your kids from eating too many sugary treats. Offer more whole fruits and vegetables, and fewer fruit juices and cookies.
• Enjoy outdoor activities safely! Make sure your child uses protective equipment, like wearing a helmet, when riding a bike or skating. Drink water regularly to stay hydrated in the summer heat.

Disability Pride Month honors the history, achievements and experiences of people with disabilities.

Disabilities can be physical, mental, sensory or invisible—but they do not define a person. Strength, identity and individuality do.

At HPSM, we’re proud to support people with disabilities by helping connect them to the care, services and resources they need to thrive.
