I feel it. You feel it.
Moments of paralysis & overwhelm, rage then hope, indignation then pride, heartbreak . Days I feel appalled by the harm being caused & the weight placed on community. Still, I am equally moved by what I witness. I am deeply inspired by how immigrant communities rally, we show up, speak truth, organize, rest, grieve, & protect joy. I see Ancestral Resilience. Strength that lives in kitchens and clinics, meals, prayer circles & classrooms, marches and quiet moments of action.
At the core of how I view my work: healing happens one1 person at a time, for all of community. When 1 nervous system finds safety, when 1 story is witnessed with dignity, it heals us all. Individual healing is not separate from collective liberation.
We are carrying more than stress—we are carrying ancestral memory. The body remembers what our ancestors survived: displacement, borders, violence, silence, resilience. The fear, vigilance, grief, and anger many are feeling right now are sacred signals from a nervous system protecting life.
Ancestral wisdom reminds us to return to the four elements:
Earth: Ground the body—feet on the floor, hands on soil, cooking, cleaning, tending to what is real and present.
Water: Allow emotion to move—tears, baths, rivers, prayer, breath.
Fire: Protect dignity—boundaries, righteous anger, action rooted in values.
Air: Regulate through breath and palabra—speaking truth, sharing stories, naming fear so it does not live alone in the body.
To my immigrant community: I stand with you. In my work, my voice, and my presence. Our care for one another is sacred. Our resilience is inherited. And we were never meant to carry this alone.
