Today, we came together to recognize International Overdose Awareness Day and remind our community that awareness, compassion, and access to resources can save lives.

Our Overdose Awareness Day event provided an opportunity to learn about overdose risks, connect with helpful resources, and discover ways we can all be part of the solution.

If you’re a Veteran who couldn’t attend today and need a naloxone kit, please call 520-792-1450, ext. 1-6581.

Together, we can help prevent overdose and save lives. šŸ’œ

🌟 Congratulations to our August BEE Award recipient, Sa-Tina Emery, AMSA! 🌟

Sa-Tina’s extraordinary compassion and quick action made all the difference for a Veteran and his family during a critical moment. When a Veteran’s wife sensed something was wrong, Sa-Tina listened, acted immediately, and helped ensure the Veteran received the urgent care he needed. Her kindness and support brought comfort in their darkest hour.

Just as a Daisy cannot thrive without the BEE, nurses cannot thrive without the outstanding support provided by other team members. Sa-Tina truly embodies ā€œBeing Extraordinary Everyday,ā€ making a positive impact through dedication, teamwork, and compassion.

Thank you, Sa-Tina, for your exceptional support and for helping our care teams shine! šŸ

Today, we celebrated a remarkable moment at the Tucson VA Fisher House. DAV Chapter 26 presented a generous $70,000 donation—with $50,000 designated for the Fisher House and $20,000 designated for VA Voluntary Service to support Veteran Programs. This gift was made in memory of DAV VAVS member William Burks, and we were honored to have his wife, Dorothy Burks, present.

We welcomed distinguished guests from DAV Chapter 26, including Ron Cox, Assistant Adjutant; Lorrie Billie, Southern District Liaison; John Ingraham, Chapter 26 Commander; and Kevin Karvinen, DAV Department of AZ Treasurer.

Their generosity reflects a profound commitment to ensuring Veterans and their families have a supportive, comforting place to stay during challenging times.

A huge thank you to Gila Valley Veteran Services and the American Legion Swift Murphy Post 32 for hosting the Safford Veteran Engagement and Resource Fair. Thanks to this incredible collaboration, we were able to connect Veterans with important information and resources, assist with VA health care registration and enrollment, and help several Veterans file new disability claims with VBA.

We truly appreciate everyone who contributed to making this event meaningful for our Veterans. Your support helps us continue our mission of serving those who served.

If you or your organization are interested in hosting a Veteran Engagement and Resource Fair or would like our team to host a table at your event, please reach out to our Public Affairs Office at [email protected].
