It is that time of the year when your kids and teens are feeling the stress of school and can't wait for winter break to come. Grades are dropping, they are irritable, not getting enough sleep, friend drama seems insurmountable, teachers are contacting you, and you start feeling like you are failing as a parent. You are not alone! Stay tuned for strategies to help survive the winter school blahs (other than hoping for a snow day!).

When we think about ways of coping with anxiety/depression, one thing you can do is to reach out and help others! The psychological benefits of helping others is tremendous. Did you know that volunteering actually increases self-reported happiness, well-being, and health? The specific brain activity associated with helping actually makes you feel good!! Take a look around you, in your community and your country. There is something you can do to make a difference.

So, Labor Day is here, school has started or will start next week! Wanted to share this link discussing the phenomenon that many ADHD kids/teens suffer from - sensitivity to rejection, which triggers plummeting self-esteem and mood because of anticipated rejection. Really helpful for understanding our ADHD kids.

The extreme emotional pain of perceived rejection is a feeling unique to people with ADHD/ADD, and it can be debilitating. Learn how RSD may be impacting your patients.
