At SpeechLink, bilingual therapy means more than speaking two languages—it means delivering clinically precise, culturally meaningful care. I provide services in both English and Russian with full fluency, including the ability to read, write, and create fully individualized therapy materials directly in Russian. This allows therapy to be natural, accurate, and deeply relevant—without relying on translation or simplification.

For many adults with aphasia, cognitive-communication challenges, or neurodegenerative conditions, the native language remains the strongest and most accessible system. Treating patients in Russian not only improves outcomes, but also helps preserve identity, confidence, and meaningful communication in everyday life.

What truly sets SpeechLink apart is cultural understanding. I am deeply familiar with Russian language nuances, communication styles, and literature. When appropriate, therapy can incorporate works from authors like Alexander Pushkin, Leo Tolstoy, and Anton Chekhov—bringing a level of intellectual and emotional engagement that standard materials simply cannot offer.

More Than Translation — True Bilingual Clinical Expertise

Sessions can also include culturally meaningful elements such as traditional and military songs that many of my patients grew up with and love. Singing familiar songs often supports memory, speech initiation, and emotional connection in a way that feels both therapeutic and personal.

At SpeechLink, therapy is not generic—it is tailored, culturally grounded, and designed to reflect who each patient truly is.

If you or your loved one are seeking bilingual speech-language therapy that goes beyond translation, SpeechLink is here to help.

If you and I got together for therapy, most likely, sooner or later, I would give you my speech about what I consider a therapeutic alliance. What does it mean for a client and clinician to work together towards the chosen goals? One of the most important aspects is, of course, trust. I am always excited to hear from my patients after they've made progress, but it is even more meaningful to me when patients decide to choose me over and over again ❤️. This wonderful patient of mine is a hard worker with a go getter personality and a strong background in nursing, who has been through several emergencies and wanted to come back for some quick testing. Feedback like this feeds my soul.

Ianessa Humbert: “This is the analogy I give my patients when they say: In the past I was told that food gets stuck because my flapper isn’t flapping, but I don’t understand how that works.” This is a great way to explain what the epiglottic inversion actually does during a swallow.”

FEES endoscopy stands for Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing.

It is a medical test used to evaluate how well a person swallows (called a swallow study).

🔎 What happens during FEES?
• A thin, flexible tube with a tiny camera (endoscope) is passed gently through the nose.
• The camera sits above the throat to watch how food and liquids move when you swallow.
• The patient is given different types of food and liquid (colored for visibility).
• The clinician watches to see if anything goes toward the airway instead of the stomach.

🩺 Why is it done?

FEES is used to check for:
• Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing)
• Choking risk
• Food or liquid entering the lungs (aspiration)
• Swallowing problems after stroke, surgery, neurological disease, or cancer treatment

✅ Advantages
• Done at bedside (no X-ray needed)
• No radiation exposure
• Can be repeated easily
• Shows vocal cords and throat structures clearly.

Here, I completed a FEES for beautiful Nadya, who had been singing since age 4.
