💙 Community Spotlight! 💙
A couple of weeks ago, our team at DeSoto Hope had the opportunity to visit Baptist Medical Group – Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Clinic, and we want to share the word about the incredible work they are doing! ✨
What is OMT?
The physicians at the clinic specialize in Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT)—a set of gentle, hands-on techniques focused on the muscles, soft tissue, joints, and nervous system. By restoring balance in the body, OMT helps improve overall movement, organ function, and well-being.
Conditions Treated Include:
Musculoskeletal Problems: Back/neck pain, joint pain, carpal tunnel, frozen shoulder, and plantar fasciitis
Chronic Pain: Arthritis, migraines, headaches, and menstrual pain
Breathing Issues: Asthma, sinus infections, and post-surgical recovery

Join us at the NWCC Ranger Center in Southaven from 10:00 am until noon today for safety demonstrations, injury prevention, safety awareness tips and emergency preparedness education.

This event is hosted by Baptist DeSoto, Mississippi Trauma Care System Foundation and MS State Department of Health Trauma Systems of Care along with area healthcare professionals, first responders, and local organizations to provide education to the community.

Nearly 600 nursing students spent their summer caring for patients, building clinical skills, and taking the first steps toward careers that will strengthen Mississippi's healthcare workforce. Yesterday, we hosted a luncheon and recognized the 32 nursing students from 9 nursing programs who spent the summer gaining knowledge from experienced nurses at Baptist DeSoto. In addition, Jordan Moore, 7T med/surg registered nurse, was presented the preceptor award.

The Mississippi Summer Student Nurse Externship Program is a collaborative initiative of the Mississippi Council of Deans and Directors and the Mississippi Hospital Association Organization for Nursing Leadership. For many years, this highly competitive program has connected nursing students with hospitals where they work alongside experienced nurses, apply classroom learning in real-world settings, and begin building lasting relationships with future employers.
