Here is your update on Nathaniel Lebo...

Last Wednesday turned into an overnight hospital stay because his blood pressure was too low. It was caused by his new medicine to help him sleep. So he is off of that and will have a sleep study in 2 weeks to see why he isnt sleeping.

His counts were okay and he is doing as well as can be expected with 9 weeks of chemo. Only 10 more to go for this phase of treatment.

I will update again as soon as possible after his appointments tomorrow.

Since I have your attention, I need to clarify something that I have heard numerous times since we told everyone he was being treated at St Jude.

St Jude covers any and all medical expenses related to his treatment including any outside providers they send him to during his treatment. St Jude covers our meals while we're on campus. St Jude provides us roughly 18 dollars to drive to his appointments on campus.

What St Jude doesn't cover is our bills (lights, gas, water, internet, cell phone, etc) here at home, our rent, any overage in gas for travel that comes with unexpected hospital stays and me having to come home and get clothes and such for said stays, groceries, trips to pick up medicine that he runs out of in between appointments. They dont cover expenses when something on my truck messes up or it needs new tires, oil changes and other maintenance. They dont cover Christmas gifts or birthday gifts for him or Kacey. They dont cover the medical bills he has from November 28th 2025 until December 3rd 2025 before we got transferred to St Jude. They don't pay for us having to miss work to be with Nate.

As great as they are they actually don't help with much outside of the medical side of his treatment. I'm not mad about it. It just leaves just in a constant state of deciding what bills get paid in which order and still have money for gas and groceries. We are in the same as everyone else money wise except we have a child with leukemia that is in treatment. That is why we post the go fund me, my cash app amd venmo on almost every post. We need help and you don't get it if you don't ask.

Here is your weekly Nathaniel Lebo update..

He is doing good. His counts are holding steady, which we are very thankful for. We are seeing improvements in chemo side-effects thanks to the meds he started last week. The biggest thing right now is the nausea and almost daily vomiting. His meds are helping with that but it

Heart doctor has decided his blood pressure medicine is working and doesnt need any adjustments so they will see him again at the end of January unless something changes between now and then.

Right now we continue the treatment protocol and pray for the best since everything appears to be working. We take the good days with the bad days.

I havent given Nathaniel Lebo weekly update and I do apologize. Life is very busy right now and it's wearing on all of us. Nate with chemo and side effects. Kacey with work. Charlie and I doing everything possible to make things as normal as possible for everyone.

Nate is doing pretty good all things considered. His counts are up one week down the next. He started some new meds to help with some side effects that seems to be helping. His nausea and vomiting seem to be getting worse but it's being controlled very well.

He has 3 back to back weeks of chemo and 3 weeks of high dose steroids with a week off in between. His body doesnt like steroids. His blood sugar gets really high so we have to make changes for that.

Wednesdays are already very long days. Early wake ups and late nights for me. For Nate, it's early wake ups and naps whenever possible. Add in low counts and the side effects of chemo and today was absolutely miserable.

The kid will never let you see that side of this. He holds his head up, puts a smile on his face, speaks to everyone we pass so they can have a reason to smile. He goes to all his appointments, talks to the nurses and doctors never letting on to how bad he really feels. He never complains, never asks for anything, never tells them no or that something hurts. He keeps fighting. He is the reason we keep.fighting. The way he handles this is the only way I seem like I have it together even if I don't.

Nate is definitely feeling all the side effects with this phase. He's tired. He can't sleep. He has mouth sores and sores in his digestive tract. He isnt eating or drinking alot because it hurts. Yet he still manages to smile and laugh. Half the time if you didn't know what he was battling, you wouldnt think he was sick.

We were told today this is week 6 so I guess my count is a little off. Only 13 weeks left in this phase. Due to his counts being so low, his oral chemo has been stopped. This is not a.big deal. He already has taken more than they expected him to at full dosing. He got 4 weeks at full dosing and 1 week at half dosing. We're still seeing some numbers that need to come down and some that need to go up. We need his hemoglobin and platelets to hold where they are. We need his ANC to not drop below 300.. its at 446 today. We need his white cell count to come up a little or hold at 1.94. We need him to stay healthy and not get any infections. He has IV chemo and a lumbar puncture with chemo next Wednesday. We need him to feel better and be able to sleep. We need his mouth sores to go away. We need to see the side effects from the chemo go away. We really need all the things to come together to make next week work.

Yall... it's been a long week and half and we don't expect it to get better for a few months. Nate loves exceeding the expectations of his medical team. Now that's not necessarily always a good thing. He loves to sugarcoat and give half truths when talking to them. He never wants anyone but the immediate family to know exactly what is going on with him. Me on the other hand- we're fighting to save this kid and if I think its important and they need to know I'm gonna tell it. Unfortunately my face usually gives it away before my mouth does. His medical team watches me when he talks now because they know this. So let's say his appointments are interesting some days.

Nate's counts are officially in a free fall once again. They're 2 weeks behind schedule thanks to his rhinovirus infection we didnt know he had. It's good that they are starting to fall but it also means his immune system is shot once again. The balancing act begins to keep his counts low enough to kill off the Leukemia cells but high enough to keep him from catching something every time we turn around.

Nate was able to get 4 weeks of his oral chemo at full dosage. This is the first time he's ever had full doses for this long. Due to the significant drop in his counts this week, his dose was cut in half. No worries though. They never expect these kids to get full doses the entire phase of treatment. That would mean the chemo isn't doing its job. So we keep moving forward.

This particular phase of treatment.. Getting IV chemo and lumbar punctures with chemo every 3 weeks and daily oral chemo for 19 weeks is very hard on teens and young adults. He's having some side effects that he hasn't experienced before . Some are worse than others. Some are short lived while others seem to be hanging on for longer. Pray for him! Sleep is not coming easy for any of us. When he's ready, I will share what side effects he's having other than not sleeping.

We fight one day at a time, hour by hour when necessary. But we fight and we don't give up. 4 weeks down 15 to go for this phase.

The past few days have been a little tougher than we had hoped.
Nathan recently started another phase of chemotherapy, including calaspargase, vincristine, dexamethasone, and his daily 6-MP. Shortly afterward, he began having persistent nausea and vomiting that quickly became severe enough that he couldn't keep food or even fluids down.
Today we spent the day back at St. Jude. He received IV fluids and IV nausea medication, and the team ran more blood work, viral testing, and an abdominal ultrasound to make sure nothing more serious was going on. Thankfully, his pancreas and gallbladder look okay, which was reassuring. His liver enzymes are elevated,
One thing we did learn is that Nathan tested positive for rhinovirus (a common cold.for us normal folks)so in addition to the side effects of chemotherapy, he's also fighting a viral infection. It's another hurdle, but we're thankful to have an answer that helps explain why he's been feeling so awful.
He's still struggling with nausea, vomiting, and exhaustion, and we'd appreciate continued prayers that his medications begin working, he's able to stay hydrated, and his body gets the rest it needs to recover.
Cancer treatment is full of unexpected twists and setbacks. Just when you think you've found a rhythm, something changes. Through it all, Nathan continues to show incredible strength, and we're so thankful for the amazing team at St. Jude that continues to care for him every step of the way.

I needed to pop in for an update before the week gets busy!

Nate is doing so so right now. We know when he's on chemo there are sideeffects to that. Sometimes they are worse than others. Sometimes it takes a couple of weeks for them to make an appearance.

He's 3 weeks post IV infusions. He's been taking oral chemo for 3 weeks straight and the last week hasnt been so great for him. He's tired. He's clammy but not running fever. He's not wanting to do things or go places. We knew 19 weeks of chemo was gonna be hell but we were hoping he'd have more good days than bad ones. Right now that isnt the case.

Wednesday will be a long day for us. He has multiple appointments, a lumbar puncture with chemo and chemo IV infusions. I'm also figuring he'll need blood and or platelets as well. Part of the reason he feels so bad is his counts are dropping. They were high while he was on immunotherapy and now they're hitting bottom again.

I was so excited about the boys getting to see Jelly Roll last Friday and the realization that we been fighting this fight for 6 months that I forgot to give yall a treatment update.

Nate's labs looked great last Wednesday. His triglycerides are back on the high side so of course that means he's back on Omega 3s until that comes down.

He started chemo and high dose steroids. 3 different chemo drugs were given last week and he started 3 weeks of oral chemo. He isnt nauseous or vomiting with this round but he is dealing with excess stomach acid and being very tired. We know chemo meds change everything for him but we weren't expecting it to hit him this hard this fast. It normally takes a couple of weeks to see changes.

We're 1 week down with 18 weeks to go for this phase of his treatment. We're back to watching his counts, his exposure to the public and people that may be sick or recovering from being sick, and as always him. We really don't need him sick. It will turn 19 weeks into who knows how many weeks. It delays treatment for at least 2 weeks sometimes longer than that while he recovers.

I normally don't share the perks of life at St Jude. Today I am.

The patients and families got a private mine concert from the one and only Jelly Roll!

During said mini concert, Jelly Roll gave everyone tickets to his show tonight in Southaven. We did not know about this beforehand so I didnt have time to make proper arrangements for Kacey to be able to go to both. So Nathaniel Lebo, Beck Lebo, Nana Paula and I all went to the concert tonight.
