The first published recipe for “some mores” was in 1927 in Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts. Loretta Scott Crew made them for Girl Scouts and was credited with the recipe, but no one knows who invented the s’more. By the 1960s “Some mores” was shortened to s’mores.
