Did you know the FDA recognizes two completely different categories of hearing aids?

Most people don't. And it's one of the most important things to understand before you or someone you love makes a decision about their hearing!

Over-the-counter hearing aids became legal in 2022. You can now walk into a pharmacy or order online without ever seeing a doctor. For the right person, that accessibility is genuinely helpful.

👉 But here is what most people miss…

OTC hearing aids are strictly regulated for adults 18 and older with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss only. They are not designed for children. They are not designed for severe or profound hearing loss. And they are not a substitute for a clinical evaluation.

Prescription hearing aids are different. They are fitted and programmed by a licensed audiologist based on your exact hearing test results, and they cover all ages and all levels of hearing loss, from mild to profound. ✨

Same name. Very different product. Very different purpose.

If you or someone you love has been considering hearing aids, this is worth understanding before making any decisions! 📲 Message us!

One of the biggest reasons people put off trying hearing aids is the fear of committing to something they are not sure about.

➡️ What if they do not work the way I hoped?
➡️ What if I spend all that money and it is not the right fit?
➡️ What if I get home and it just does not feel right?

Those are fair questions. And at Elite Audiology Resources, we think you deserve real answers.

So here is how we handle it. 👇

Every patient who starts with new hearing technology at our practice has 60 days to wear them in their real life. If at the end of that time something is not working the way you need it to, we fix it. And if it is still not right, you can return them.

No pressure, no penalty, no awkward conversation. 🙅‍♀️

This time of year feels like a natural reset, a little more structure coming back into daily life. If you’ve been thinking about doing something about your hearing, this is a great time. 💛

Questions about how the trial works? Send us a message! 📲 We are happy to walk you through it.

Can you hear some people perfectly, but struggle more with women’s or children’s voices?

It’s not selective hearing. 👂

Higher-pitched sounds are often among the first to become harder to hear, and those sounds carry important details that make speech clear.

If certain voices are becoming harder to understand, a hearing test can help explain why.

Something I want families to understand, because it changes everything…

👉 When your parent goes quiet at a crowded dinner table, they are not being antisocial.
👉 When they laugh along with a story they clearly didn't follow, they are not being dismissive.
👉 When they ask you to repeat yourself, they are not being annoying.
👉 When they wave you off and say they’re fine, they might actually be exhausted.

Hearing loss doesn't feel the way most people expect it to from the outside. It isn't silence. It's an effort. Constant, invisible, exhausting effort. 😣 Just trying to follow a conversation in a loud restaurant can feel like you’re running a race no one else knows is happening.

It's laughing at the right moment because you caught a word or two and made your best guess, and praying nobody asks you to weigh in.

It's slowly, quietly, starting to prefer smaller gatherings. Shorter phone calls. Fewer situations where you might get it wrong.

When you understand what your parent is actually navigating, the conversation becomes less about convincing them of something and more about letting them know you see them.

If this sounds familiar, share this with someone who needs to read it. 👇

What a fun 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲

For the 𝟯𝗿𝗱 year in a row, Elite Audiology Resources has been recognized in Living Magazine Readers’ Choice Awards — and this year in two communities: Northeast Tarrant County AND Keller!

Three years of ownership. Three years of Readers’ Choice recognition. And this year, an added community. 🤍

But the best part? These awards are voted on by 𝗬𝗢𝗨. The patients, families, and community who continue to trust us with their hearing care.

That trust means more than any plaque ever could.

Thank you for choosing us, supporting us, and allowing us to do what we love every day. We don’t take it lightly. 🤍

This one is worth sharing with every parent you know. 👇

Researchers found that one in eight teenagers already shows measurable signs of noise-related hearing damage before they even finish high school.

Not older adults. Not factory workers. Teenagers.
The culprit is almost always the same, earbuds at high volume, for long stretches, every single day. The damage is gradual, invisible, and permanent. And because it happens slowly, most kids have no idea it is happening.

As a new school year starts and the earbuds go back in, it is a good time to check in. A baseline hearing evaluation takes less than an hour and gives you a clear picture of where your child's hearing actually stands.

Early awareness always leads to better outcomes. And this is one of those things that is much easier to protect than it is to reverse.
If you have been meaning to get this done, now is a good time. 🍎

If the TV volume keeps creeping higher, the TV may not be the problem. 📺👂

When speech becomes less clear, turning up the volume feels like the obvious solution. But louder doesn’t always mean clearer.

If everyone else thinks the TV is loud and you’re still missing words, your hearing may be worth checking.

Happy National Dog Day from the pups and the team at Elite Audiology Resources! 🐾

I've been thinking about this today: what is it about dogs that makes them so good at the thing humans sometimes struggle with most?

Being fully present.

There is no half-listening with a dog. No nodding along while thinking about something else. No missing the moment because you were distracted. 🐶

Does your dog have a name? Drop it below! We want to meet them. 🐶⬇️

With love,
Mollie, Bauer, Trooper, Rosie, and Otto

“The quieter you become, the more you can hear.” - Ram Dass

It’s a simple line, but it really hits home, doesn’t it? So many of the moments that ground us depend on clear hearing. If those everyday sounds have started to fade, we’re here to help you bring them back.

Hearing aids don’t just make everything louder anymore.

Modern technology is designed to help speech stand out, improve clarity, and adapt to different listening environments.

But even the best technology needs the right programming. The device matters, but how it’s fitted to your hearing matters just as much. 👂
