When asked what attracted him to MEDS, Dr. VanAntwerp said it came down to one thing: people.

"A close friend and colleague recommended MEDS. After meeting the leadership and seeing what the group was all about, it was an easy decision. They genuinely care about their physicians, the scheduling is fantastic, and the access to leadership is the best I've ever had."

Today, Dr. VanAntwerp continues to lead the Emergency Department at Sparta because of the opportunity to make a real impact.

"I never expected to become an ER Director in my early 30s, but MEDS encouraged me and gave me that opportunity. Now I truly have the ability to make a difference for both the hospital and the community."

West Nile Virus has been confirmed in a mosquito sample in Randolph County. At this time, no human cases have been reported. 🦟

The Randolph County Health Department is encouraging residents to take simple precautions to reduce mosquito exposure and eliminate standing water around their homes.

As we continue to enjoy summer activities—from community events and outdoor gatherings to time at the pool, lake, or in the backyard—taking a few preventive steps can help protect you and your family.
✅ Use insect repellent when outdoors
✅ Remove standing water where mosquitoes can breed
✅ Wear long sleeves and pants when appropriate
✅ Consider limiting outdoor activity during peak mosquito hours
