Thank you, Help For Children & the Alternative Investment Industry, for supporting this vital work. You are building brighter futures for our most vulnerable children around the world!

We thank you for making healing possible. Your support helps ensure that every person who walks through our doors has the opportunity to tell their story, heal from trauma, and move toward a brighter future—one defined not by what happened to them, but by their strength, resilience, and possibilities ahead.

We’re proud to share that members of our clinical team recently presented at the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC) 33rd Colloquium in New Orleans!

Cindy Melo presented on:
“Providing Culturally Competent Care When Completing a Forensic Team Assessment and Recommending Therapeutic Intervention”

Allison Spranger and Michelle Goldberg presented on:
“Beyond the Victim: Assessing the Role of Sibling Relationships Using the Forensic Team Approach in Child Sexual Abuse”

Their work highlights the importance of thoughtful, collaborative, and culturally responsive approaches in supporting children and families impacted by trauma.
We’re also grateful that our team had the opportunity to share their expertise and CEC’s team approach to forensic assessment with colleagues across the nation doing this difficult work.

The CEC team members who attended the conference will pass on their new learnings to our clinical team. This commitment to ongoing learning and collaboration strengthens the care we provide every day.

👏 Please join us in celebrating Cindy, Allison, and Michelle for their dedication and leadership in the field!

What an incredible evening at The Plaza Hotel! ✨

We are so thankful to the Help for Children Foundation for supporting the Center for Evaluation and Counseling and for inviting us to their New York Annual Charity Gala. It was inspiring to be surrounded by so many dedicated individuals dedicated to prevention and treatment of child abuse.

We’re proud that our Board President, Yvonne DeCicco, and Program Director, Dr. Stephanie Kurilla, were there to represent CEC and our mission.

Thank you to Help For Children and to everyone who supports this important work, for helping create safer futures for children. 💙

We may be a day late, but our support for survivors remains strong, today and every day. 💙
Denim Day was April 29, and at the Center for Evaluation and Counseling, we stand alongside our community in saying clearly: sexual assault is never the survivor’s fault, no matter what someone wears.

To survivors in our community: we believe you. You deserve safety, support, and healing. To allies: your compassion, listening, and action make a difference.

Support is available:
📞 National Sexual Assault Hotline: 800‑656‑HOPE (4673)
💬 Chat: rainn.org
🤝 Local counseling and support services available through the Center for Evaluation and Counseling

You are not alone. We are here.

For too long, the story around children’s mental health has focused only on crisis. At CEC, we’ve spent more than 30 years showing what’s possible when children receive the right care, at the right time, from the right people.
Earlier this month, we were honored to welcome Rep. Analilia Mejia and Rep. Jamie Raskin to see our work in action and to have an honest conversation about the growing mental health needs of children and families. These challenges are real, and federal funding can mean the difference between getting care now or waiting far too long for support.
Every day, our team provides evidence‑based trauma therapy, trusted forensic evaluations, and prevention programs like Teen Talk and Healthy Boundaries, Healthy Minds, services designed to support children before a crisis becomes life‑altering. Our mission is simple: to shorten the distance between a child in pain and the care that can change their future.
We are grateful to the leaders, partners, and advocates who stand with us and recognize that investing in children’s mental health strengthens families and communities for generations to come.
