In TCM, different teas have different temperatures, actions, and effects on the body. Some cool excess Heat π₯, some warm Yang βοΈ, and others help digestion, circulation, or mental clarity.
Here are some of my favorites π
π Green Tea
Cooling and refreshing.
Great for clearing Heat, supporting digestion, and soothing Liver Qi.
Perfect for people who run hot, feel irritable, or tend toward inflammation.
π₯ Black Tea
More warming in nature.
Supports Yang, warms the Stomach, and can feel grounding and comforting, especially in colder weather or for people with cold digestion.
π Oolong Tea
One of the best teas for moving stagnant Qi and resolving Dampness.
Traditionally used to support digestion after heavy or greasy meals.
π± Pu-erh Tea
Aged and earthy.
Excellent in TCM for strengthening the Spleen, transforming Dampness, and helping with that heavy, foggy feeling after overeating.
π Matcha
More concentrated than regular green tea.
Clears Heat while also helping focus and concentration.
Amazing for mental clarity without the crash of coffee.
πΎ Genmaicha
A gentle Japanese tea made with green tea and roasted rice.
Very grounding and easier on the Stomach than regular green tea.
Lovely for Spleen Qi deficiency and weak digestion.
π Ginger & Lemon Tea
One of my FAVORITES.
Warms the middle burner, dispels cold, improves circulation, and supports digestion.
Wonderful during cold weather, early colds, cramps, or sluggish digestion.
β¨ One thing I love about TCM is that we donβt just ask:
βIs this healthy?β
We ask:
π Is it warming or cooling?
π Does this person have excess or deficiency?
π Is digestion weak or strong?
π Is there Dampness, Heat, or Cold?
Because even healthy foods and teas may not be right for everyone at every time.
Your body constitution matters π
