Thank you all for the wonderful retirement blessings! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading the comments and seeing your names pop up. Where has time gone? I wish I had journaled my adventure into clinic ownership. It was definitely an adventure with a learning curve that NEVER stopped.
When I ask myself what is the greatest success, it would definitely be the clinic is still open and thriving under 2 of my children’s ownership and 2 amazing managers who have been with the clinics for years. I have to admit our God is an awesome God! My young children that would hang out in the server closet and play video games while their momma worked or participate in groups as role models NOW own and run the clinics. The transition happened over a period of 5 years and most folks didn’t even notice!
If I asked myself what are you most proud of? It would be the patients that went from being young with lots of challenges to being high school, community college and college graduates! If you are reading this you know who you are but a few that pop into mind include: C.D.; M.D.; D.P.; S.A. A couple years ago, D.P. Stopped into the clinic with his mom. A full grown man to Thank me. Oh what a beautiful day! I know that there are many more..but remember I am old enough to be retired so my memory is rusty.
If I asked myself what was the biggest challenge? It would be COVID! It may have been what truly defined my plans for retirement! The stress and worry was UNREAL. How do we care for patients that still need therapy and keep them safe? How do I keep my employees safe? How do I meet the clinics financial obligations? I have ALWAYS loved my profession and my clinics but this challenge was big, scary and uncharted Territory. There was no manual to read! I created more policies, procedures, checklists and flowcharts during COVID then during any other time in my career!
So what’s next for me? Spending time with my beautiful grandchildren; spending time in my Florida home and traveling. Thank you for supporting this adventure. It was the best 27 years!
