Obituary For Herman Wofford
Herman Edward Wofford, affectionately known as Butch, 79, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on October 19, 2026. He and Iris Smith Wofford shared 43 years of marriage.
He attended public schools in Spartanburg County, served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam era and in the Army National Guard. He worked as a production supervisor at Pet Dairy.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife and six children: Renee (Rodney) Jackson, April (Alexander) Burton, Herman Edward (Latoya) Fowler, Herman Edward Peeler, Amber (Jason) Johnson, and Christopher Edward (Sarah) Wofford. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a special godchild, Sarai Meadows, two sisters, Jannie W. Kelly of Charleston, SC, and Shirley W. (John) Richmond of Roebuck, SC, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Butch was preceded in death by his son, Terrance Lamont Wofford; his parents, Marion and Elizabeth McConnell Wofford; and his siblings, Marion Wofford III, Ann Miller, Juanita Watt, and Clarence Wofford.
He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including watching his favorite Western shows and cheering on the Carolina Panthers. These familiar pastimes will remain fond reminders of him for those who knew and loved him.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Livestream will be available.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
