Supporting parents of trafficking victims is some of the most complicated work in this field—and most providers have no infrastructure for it. The parent is not your client, but what they do or don't do directly affects the youth you're serving.

This webinar is a practitioner conversation about what that work actually looks like, what makes it hard, and what a handful of people around the country are doing to fill the gap.

For anyone that has survived a loved one that has been a victim of social media June 23rd 2026 is Social Media Victims Remembrance Day in Washington DC. We will remember every child lost. But remembrance is not enough. It is a time for us to advocate and elevate our voices and demand protections for children from harmful and unregulated online platforms!

It’s too soon to tell if this week’s jury decisions will lead to fundamental changes in how social media treats its young users.

Back out there at it! Can’t stop won’t stop! What a great group of students & staff at Walton Elementary/ Middle School in Roane County WV! Thursday May 7th I was honored and excited to teach 5th -8th grade students all about Body Safety! With SHIELD Task Force Body Safety Assembly! All schools in West Virginia are required by law to teach their students once a year age appropriate body safety education! If you’re in WV and your school is interested please reach out and let us partner with you!

One of the best “jobs” ever is being a body safety educator and going into our state’s Middle / High Schools to do SHIELD Task Force Student Assemblies! Today we went back to Roane County to Geary Elementary/Middle School and spoke with the 5th - 8th grade students about how to keep themselves safe or what to do if they feel unsafe! Every year schools in WV have to provide students K-12 age appropriate body safety education per Erin Merryn / Erin's Law

Thankful for Erin and all those that are fighting to keep children across the country safe!!

The Rejoining

“What had been severed for the sake of our preservation must now be rejoined for the sake of our healing.”

This line found me before I was looking for it. It struck something quiet and ancient in me, like a bell rung deep underground.
There were parts of me that learned how to disappear.

Not because they were broken, but because they were wise.

They numbed, they split, they stepped aside so I could wake up the next morning and do the ordinary miracle of surviving the day.

I have been grieving for years now,
and the grief keeps changing its shape.

It is not only the grief of losing people I loved, though that grief is real and heavy.

It is also the grief of losing access to myself— to the softness, the trust, the unguarded breath—especially after trauma layered itself again and again, teaching my nervous system that danger was everywhere and safety was rare.

Poly-victimization fractures more than memory. It fractures belonging.

It teaches parts of the soul to go into exile,
to carry pain in silence so the rest can keep functioning.

I see now that those parts were never wrong.

They were protectors.

They bore what could not be borne all at once.

So what does it mean to rejoin them now?

I don’t think it means dragging them back into the light or demanding wholeness on a timeline.

I think it means turning toward them slowly, with reverence.

Listening without urgency.

Letting the body speak in sensations instead of stories.

Letting grief move through me like weather, without needing to name every cloud.

There is grief for who I was before—
and also grief for who I never got to be.

For the safety that should have been ordinary.

For the innocence that had no chance to root.

Healing is not a return.

There is no “before” to go back to.

Healing, perhaps, is an inclusion.

An allowing.

A widening of the inner circle so that no part of me has to live outside the gate anymore.

If preservation was the work of severing,
then healing is the work of remembering.

Of gathering the scattered pieces with gentleness and saying, again and again:

You belong.

You are not late.

You are not a problem.

You helped me live.

And maybe wholeness does not mean untouched.

Maybe it means held.
