Clarice Harms, 98, of May City, IA, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Accura Healthcare of Milford.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in May City, IA. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be held in the Harrison Township Cemetery in Rural May City, IA. Clarice Mae (Recher) Harms was born on September 12, 1927, to John and Norma (Peterson) Recher at their home in Ocheyedan, IA. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in May City, IA. She received her 1st through 8th grade education at Allison Township County School. She graduated from Hartley High School in 1946.
She taught at the country school for 2 years in Harrison Township. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Reed Harms on July 9, 1948, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux City, IA. He preceded her in death in 1997. Together, they farmed in the Melvin, Harris and Lake Park area until 1986, when they retired to May City, IA.
She and Lawrence became parents of Yvonne, Gordon, Kathryn, and Brian. Grandchildren are Kara Maxwell and Mark Leemkuil, Jason and Scott Harms, Eric and Michael Anderson and Macy Harms.
