Calling new & aspiring birth workers

This fall, we’re creating a little more space for community. We’ll be hosting casual, potluck-style evenings for those new to birth work. This will include student study nights, discussions, debriefs, birth history, and good old-fashioned community sharing.

We’ll also have a gathering for experienced birth workers in late September/early October to reconnect after a busy summer.

These will be intentionally small, local, and not publicly posted.

Interested? DM me your email + phone number to join the mailing list, and feel free share with local friends who may be interested.

Gentle reminder that we have taken a huge step back to practice what we preach- more presence. Our end of July newsletter went out yesterday, and we are so grateful.
There is a mistake in the babies born list and we deeply apologize! Catch you next month💖

This month has looked a little different than many of us expected. Across our region, wildfire smoke has kept us indoors, changed plans, and made even simple things—like taking a walk or opening the windows—feel complicated.

The internet has created a marketplace of birth advice where expertise, credentials, and legal accountability are often treated as optional.

They aren’t.

Verify credentials. Understand scope of practice. Ask hard questions.

Your family’s care is too important to be left to algorithms.

You’ll still find us here occasionally, but our energy is returning to the work itself: providing thoughtful, evidence-based, holistic care for every family.

If you’d like to keep up on babies born or events coming, sign up for our newsletter (I promise we won’t spam you!). We’ll be slowly rolling out details as time goes on, but here’s the first little tid bit.

Thank you for being here.

Care thrives when people are seen, respected, and valued.

Pride Month is a reminder that every person deserves access to healthcare that is compassionate, affirming, and free from discrimination.

Midwifery has always been about meeting people where they are—honoring their unique experiences, identities, and ways of building family.

We are grateful to serve a diverse community and remain committed to providing respectful, client-centered care for all families.

Happy Pride Month. 🌈

For those of you who are planners, we want to share a quick update.

We are continuing to intentionally slow our pace so we can focus on what matters most—our families and providing truly individualized care for the clients we serve. Thank you for supporting a model of care that prioritizes presence, connection, and quality over quantity.

If you’re worried about changes to EBT benefits next month or simply finding it hard to make ends meet right now, please reach out. We’ll be collecting food, pantry items, and Thanksgiving supplies to share with families who could use a little extra support.

There’s no judgment—just community care. 💛

We’re also accepting donations of food or funds that will be passed directly along to local families in need. Every bit helps.

This is the post I have wrestled with for nearly a year. The one I’ve drafted and deleted more times than I can count.

Since 2017, it has been the absolute honor of my life to serve families in North Idaho through birth work. Every single year has been a gift — full of magic, full of growth, and full of awe at the strength of the families I’ve had the privilege to walk alongside. I have poured my heart into this community, and in return, it has shaped me as a midwife, a woman, and a mother.

Over the years, I’ve witnessed both the beauty and the heartbreak of the birth world. Last fall, I walked through three very difficult situations that brought into sharp focus how systemic change and hospital policy can directly affect the safety and well-being of the families we serve. These moments left me reflecting deeply on my role, my heart, and how I can sustainably continue in this work I love.

Those who know me know that my foundation has always been advocacy and evidence-based, heart-centered care. I hold tightly to tradition, and while my practice is rooted in steadiness and pragmatism, it is also deeply tender.

After much reflection and a season of rest this summer, I have made the decision that beginning Spring 2026, Juniper Midwifery will no longer be accepting new clients in Idaho. Repeat clients will always have a place with us, but once you are done growing your families, I will let my Idaho license go.

This community is rich with wise and wonderful midwives, and I could not be more confident in the hands you will be held by. We will be referring new Idaho potential clients to trusted practices such as , , and , as well as the many other incredible midwives serving this region.

My heart and energy will continue to pour into and into supporting families in Washington State, where Juniper Midwifery will focus exclusively beginning May 2026.

I am deeply grateful — for every birth, every family, every lesson, and for this vibrant midwifery community that will continue to thrive long after this transition.

As summer slowly peaks and softens into fall, we’re shifting back into birth season—ready to welcome some cozy little autumn babies.

Here’s what’s new as we settle into this next rhythm:

✨ Updated home birth kits are coming soon (yes, we’re excited too!)
✨ Community-centered class nights are beginning—check your email if you’re currently in care
✨ A monthly moms group will be launching at our Spokane office this fall—send us your ideal days/times
✨ Somatic touch appointments + postpartum closing visits start this fall
✨ Our updated recommendation list (with an Amazon link) will be live in our link tree soon

You’ll also notice a shift in how we use social media. As our practice continues to deepen into more traditional and intentional care, so will our presence here. We’ve loved sharing baby announcements for the little feet we’ve met over the years. But we know these stories are not ours—they are sacred moments we’ve been honored to witness. Moving forward, we’ll be sharing fewer birth announcements and more content that reflects our evolving path: thoughtful education, glimpses into our care, and heart-centered updates. Intentional, with heart.

And for our fellow birth workers—keep an eye out! A new “Resources” page is coming soon to our website with offerings for our wider community.
