Meet Dr. Carriann Shae!

Born and raised in Eastern Washington, Dr. Shae is proud to be back home caring for women in Spokane and the surrounding communities.

After earning her medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine and completing her OB/GYN residency in San Jose, Dr. Shae developed a special interest in health equity and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.

She’s passionate about providing thoughtful, individualized care and feels honored to support women through every stage of life.

Outside of the office, Dr. Shae enjoys exploring the Pacific Northwest with her husband and their dog, Forrest—including hiking and downhill skiing! 🏔️🐾

Pink October Myth vs. Fact

MYTH:
Finding a lump in your breast means you have breast cancer.

FACT:
Not all breast lumps are cancerous. Many are benign, including common conditions like cysts and fibroadenomas.

That said, **any new or unusual breast lump should be evaluated by a healthcare professional.** Don’t assume it’s nothing—but don’t panic, either.

Know your normal. Pay attention to changes. And when in doubt, get it checked. 💗

Check yourself. Know your normal. 💗

Early detection can make a difference when it comes to breast cancer. Take a few minutes to check in with your breast health:

1. Look 👀
Check for changes in size, shape, skin texture, redness, or swelling.

2. Feel 🤲
Gently feel your breasts and underarm areas for any new lumps, thickening, or changes.

3. Notice 💗
Pay attention to changes such as ni**le discharge, changes in the ni**le, or anything that feels different from your normal.

4. Speak up 🩺
If you notice a new or unusual change, talk with your healthcare provider. And be sure to stay up to date with your recommended breast cancer screenings.

Know your normal. Check yourself. Speak up.
