Sin, Death, and the Projection That Never Happened

Religion reads "in the day you eat of it you shall surely die" (Genesis 2:17) and turns it into a story about someone else, somewhere else, sometime else. That is the only move religion ever makes. It takes what is describing you right now and places it behind you as history. If Adam sinned, then sin is real. If sin is real, then death is its consequence. If death is the consequence, then you need someone to fix it. And now the mind is looking outward. It is pointing at a garden, at a man, at a tree, at a transaction it insists happened before you arrived. But you are the one who is asleep. You are the one experiencing death. Not as a future event, not as a punishment, but as the present condition of a mind that believes it is separate from its source. The entire theology of sin and death depends on you never noticing that the story is about you, not about them.

Sin does not exist. There is nothing in you that is broken, stained, or fallen. The word hamartia means to miss the mark, and you are the mark you are missing. You have been looking everywhere but where you are. That is the only sin there has ever been. And death is not something that happens to your body at the end of your life. Death is what you are living in right now every moment you believe you are separate from God. You will weep when you finally see this. Not because it is painful but because it is so simple you cannot believe you missed it. You spent your whole life trying to get back to a place you never left. You prayed to a God you already are. You confessed sins that never existed to earn a forgiveness that was never withheld. Every altar call, every sinner's prayer, every doctrine of atonement was built on a single assumption that was never true. That you were separated from Life itself.

There is no God out there. There is no past that needs to be corrected. There is no transaction between a holy being and a fallen one because both of those are projections of a mind that refuses to wake up. "Be still and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10) does not point you toward something above you. It points you into the only place you have ever been. I AM is not a name God gave Moses. I AM is what you are before you add anything else to it. Before you add your sin, your story, your unworthiness, your theology. You do not need to be saved. You need to see that you were never lost. And when you see it, the breath that left will return, and you will know it was breathing you the entire time.

Storm Time: Story of the Day

"Storm's coming, he said in that grizzled old voice, and combined with the electricity in the air and only being 11, I knew smack dab in my core that I was in the right place."
