Outer knee pain? The problem might actually be your hips 🦵

If you’re dealing with stubborn IT band pain, foam rolling the side of your leg usually won’t fix it. Here’s why:

You IT Band connects from your shin all the way up to your TFL and glutes. When hip and glute stability is lacking, your knee tends to collapse inward under load. This creates rotational torque and friction along the outside of the knee, triggering irritation and pain.

👉 To fix the IT band, you have to stabilize the hip!

What can biomechanics testing reveal about your running performance? 🏃

Running assessments often start with gait analysis, but to truly understand an athlete’s movement, we need to look deeper.

In our latest YouTube video, we take you behind the scenes of a biomechanics assessment, exploring how we test explosiveness, single-leg power, and the ability to recycle energy between strides.

🎥 Watch the full video on YouTube to see the testing in action and discover how a deeper understanding of biomechanics can help athletes run stronger, smarter, and more efficiently.

Struggling with tight ankles or poor ankle mobility? Here are 4 exercises I teach my patients to fix it:

1. Banded joint distraction: anchor a super-band low, loop it around your ankle right below the ankle bones (talus), and drive your knee forward over your toes.
2. Modified downward dog: walk your hands back until your foot is completely flat on the ground to maximize the calf stretch.
3. Kettlebell loaded mobility: get into a split kneeling position with your foot perpendicular to your back leg, side bend, and drive the knee forward.
4. Indian club dynamic control: use upper body momentum in a split kneeling stance to dynamically drive your ankle into deeper dorsiflexion.

Give these a try at home and let me know how it works on the comments!

Ever feel shoulder pain when pressing weights overhead? 🏋️

If you get a sharp pinch or ache in your shoulder during overhead lifts, shoulder impingement could be the culprit!

When muscles like the pec minor get too tight, they pull the shoulder blade forward and down. This closes off the joint space, causing the top of your arm bone to rub against your shoulder blade every time you raise your arm.

To fix this and protect your shoulder long-term, you need to address muscle balance — like strengthening your serratus anterior to open up joint space and keep your scapula anchored.

Why your lower back hurts when you stand too long 👇

If standing for more than a few minutes leaves you with pressure across the small of your back, your posture might be compensating for locked knees! 🦵

The chain reaction:
- locked knees cause your pelvis to tilt/drop
- to keep your eyes level, your body forces a sway in your lower spine
- result: chronic pressure, compression, and lower back ache

The 1-minute fix:
Soften your knees! Next time you feel that lower back tension, check if your legs are locked out. Unlock them, relax into a natural stance, and check back a minute later.

Why your neck pain isn’t just a neck problem.👇

When your head shifts forward (anterior head carriage), those small facet joints in your neck can’t glide smoothly—they end up jamming into each other, causing facet syndrome.

But treating the joint isn’t enough if we ignore why it’s happening. Certain fibers of your upper traps can actually pull your head forward, keeping you stuck in that painful pattern.

Fixing neck pain means looking at the whole picture: joints, posture, AND muscle mechanics.

Fix your lead hip pain with this simple swing fix! 🏌️💥

If you’re sliding through your downswing, you’re putting unnecessary strain on your TFL and IT band instead of properly loading into your lead leg.

Practice this bounding drill to feel what it’s like to push off your trail side, building a strong post, and rotate smoothly without pinching your hip.

Save this post to try before your next round, and share it with a golfer who needs this!

Doing this at your desk is ruining your lower back 👇

Most people think sitting with bad posture comes from slouching — so they overcorrect by sitting up super straight, flaring their ribs, and arching their lower back. But that creates massive pressure on your joints!

Here’s the simple 2-step fix:
1. Block the pelvic roll: Place a water bottle or small pillow at your tailbone (not in the curve of your low back!) This stops your pelvis from rolling backward into the chair gap.
2. Keep ribs stacked: As you work, keep your ribcage relaxed and down. Don’t flare it upward to force posture.

Save this for the next time your lower back starts aching at your desk!
