πŸ”Ή Learning from the experts. Building skills for the future. πŸ”Ή

Twenty-seven third-year medical students at the WSU Everett campus recently participated in an immersive procedural skills workshop, with 100% student attendance and the support of 10 dedicated physician educators who volunteered their time to help prepare the next generation of physicians.

Students received hands-on instruction in knot tying, suturing, and local anesthetic techniques from specialists representing cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, hand surgery, trauma surgery, anesthesiology, family medicine, and general surgery.

A special thank you to the volunteer faculty who shared their expertise, including Dr. Bridget Bush, Dr. Jimmy Chung, Dr. Joe Drosdeck, Dr. Frank Russo, Dr. Sam Guyer, Dr. Zach Litvack, Dr. Sloane Winkes, Dr. Jim Brevig, and Dr. William Ericson.

Another special shoutout goes to our Virtual Clinical Center (VCC) team, who traveled from Spokane to Everett for three days of training with critical care fellows before helping host nearly 30 WSU Everett students during the surgery skills sessions.

Thank you to Chris Martin, Nathan, Grace, and Dr. Anjali Kumar for your leadership, dedication, and support behind the scenes.

Experiences like these are only possible because of the incredible physicians, educators, and staff who invest their time in our students. Thank you for helping shape the future of medicine in Washington. πŸ’™β€οΈ

Good food. Great company. Even better ideas. πŸ₯ͺβ˜€οΈ

Our students recently gathered for PB & Play, a picnic that brought classmates together over sandwiches, games, and conversation.

The event is part of Student Led, Student Fed interest group, a student initiative launched just four months ago to promote better nutrition and wellness within the College of Medicine. What started as a simple idea is already growing, with plans for future cooking classes to expand opportunities for students.

We're excited to see this student-driven effort continue to make a positive impact on our college community. 🐾
