The Heart Attack & Stroke Prevention Center (HASPC), is 100% dedicated to heart attack, stroke and diabetes PREVENTION, and providing optimal private care to individuals at risk. Amy Doneen, ARNP and Medical Director of The HASPC is also co-founder of the internationally recognized Bale/Doneen Method. The Bale/Doneen Method uses cutting edge techniques, technology, and testing to identify individu

als at risk of cardiovascular disease, even when those individuals might appear to be perfectly healthy, fit, and doing "all the right things" when it comes to diet and exercise. Just some of these techniques / testing include: inflammatory testing; genetic testing; advanced lipid analysis;
bacterial DNA testing; and carotid intima media thickness (CIMT) testing. This method of evaluation uncovers the root causes for each patient's cardiovascular risk and/or disease and provides a pathway of treatment to stabalize cardiovascular disease thereby eliminating one's risk of heart attack and ischemic stroke. At The HASPC we believe you can live your life to its fullest, and longest, potential. As internationally recognized leaders in the research and treatment of cardiovascular disease, we have years of experience confirming that heart attacks and strokes, as well as a closely related disease, Type 2 diabetes, can absolutely be PREVENTED.

Did you know your heart's most important health metric may not be your heart rate? ❤️

Heart Rate Variability (HRV) measures the tiny differences in time between each heartbeat—and it can provide valuable insight into your body's ability to recover, adapt to stress, and maintain overall health.

Here are a few key takeaways:
✔️ HRV reflects nervous system health, not heart rhythm abnormalities.
✔️ A higher HRV generally indicates better recovery and resilience.
✔️ Your personal HRV trend matters more than comparing your numbers to someone else's.
✔️ Sleep, exercise, stress management, hydration, and nutrition all play a role in improving HRV.
✔️ Consumer devices like the Apple Watch, Garmin, and Oura Ring can help you track meaningful trends over time.

The best part? HRV isn't about chasing a perfect number—it's about understanding how your body is responding to life and making informed choices to support your health.

Read our latest blog to learn what HRV is, why it matters, how to measure it, and simple ways to improve it.

Prevention is one of the most powerful tools in healthcare. đź’™

Our goal is to help patients stay healthy—not just treat illness when it happens. Through regular follow-up appointments, personalized care, and ongoing support, we're here to help you stay accountable and reach your health goals.

Here's what one of our incredible patients shared about their experience:

"One of the greatest benefits of working with this practice has been its focus on preventive healthcare rather than simply treating problems after they arise. The regular follow-up appointments and ongoing monitoring have helped me stay accountable, identify potential issues early, and remain on track with my health goals.

What truly sets this practice apart is the incorporation of my genetic profile into my care plan. By understanding my unique genetic predispositions, my doctor has been able to tailor recommendations and preventive strategies specifically to my needs—something I have not experienced with other healthcare providers.

As life circumstances, health needs, and priorities change, having a physician who continuously monitors my progress and adjusts my care accordingly has been invaluable. This personalized, proactive approach has helped me stay healthy, maintain a high quality of life, and feel empowered to take charge of my long-term well-being. I am confident that the care I receive is designed specifically for me, not just based on a one-size-fits-all model."

Feeling a little cooped up with the poor air quality? Us too!

Poor air quality doesn't have to put your fitness routine on hold.

When wildfire smoke makes it unsafe to exercise outside, bring your workout indoors to protect your lungs and heart.

đź’Ş Try these indoor activities:

• Yoga or stretching at home
• Walking or marching in place
• Dancing to your favorite music (have a dance party in your kitchen while cooking dinner tonight!)
• Bodyweight exercises (squats, lunges, push-ups)
• Resistance band workouts
• Indoor cycling or treadmill walking
• Indoor rock climbing
• Drop into a yoga or Pilates class at a local gym or studio
• Walk the mall

❤️ Remember: Keep windows and doors closed, use a HEPA air purifier if available, and stay hydrated. If you have asthma, COPD, or heart disease, listen to your body and stop exercising if you experience chest pain, dizziness, or unusual shortness of breath.

A little movement each day can go a long way toward supporting your heart health—even when the air outside isn't cooperating.

Hang in there and stay safe!

NOTE: Typo! The image should read "Lipoprotein a" with a little "a"

Could your genes be affecting your heart health? ❤️🧬

Lipoprotein(a), or Lp(a), is a largely inherited risk factor for heart disease that isn't included in a standard cholesterol panel. In fact, many people don't know they have elevated Lp(a) until after a cardiovascular event.

The good news? A simple blood test can identify your level, and knowing your risk allows you and your healthcare provider to take steps to better protect your heart.
