Your body is trying to get your attention. Embrace it. Learn from it.

⚠️Pain is the warning light on your dashboard that tells you something is wrong - but doesn’t tell you exactly what it is.

To have the best outcome, you need a good understanding of what is going on.

We’re here to help you figure out your pain, so you can recover and move on! 🥳

Sign up for our FREE Knee Pain Workshop for bikers, happening on Tuesday June 30th from 6:30-7:30pm at Corefitinc

Why would you pay out of pocket for physical therapy when insurance covers it somewhere else?

An initial benefit from a private pay practice is convenience. Scheduling is easier as there is no need for a referral, or to obtain insurance authorization. You can just schedule and go to your physical therapist. There are no extra steps in between😊

Pricing is straightforward and transparent. During the first appointment, you and the PT develop a treatment plan, that includes the price for services. There is no guessing at the total cost, trying to decipher explanation of benefits (EOBs) statements and waiting months for the bills to slowly trickle in.

Every visit is an hour long and you spend the entire session with a licensed PT. This translates into less sessions needed and more time for life. Treatment is focused on your needs instead of the ever-changing insurance billing and documentation requirements 💪

Insurance companies only want to pay for a certain amount of rehab. The more progress a you make, the less likely insurance is to pay. They're mainly focused on getting you back to function, verses all the fun activities you enjoyed. The self pay model allows you to progress beyond basic recovery to improved durability and performance.

Additional benefits include the ability to contact your PT between sessions and online appointment scheduling.

Physical therapy costs can be paid for using your Healthcare Savings Account (HSA), Flexible Spending Account (FSA), or Health Reimbursement Account (HRA). They are a great way to save on taxes and to spend your health care dollars where you choose to receive care 🤑

Private pay physical therapy - convenient, personalized, unlimited potential - so you can enjoy adventure for life!

Let’s get started.

Spring is almost here 🌷⛺️ and with the change of seasons comes a change in sports - a perfect time to take your body in for a tune up.

The Y Balance Test (YBT) is a screen from the team at Functional Movement used to assess your sport readiness and durability. While the Functional Movement Screen looks at separate fundamental movements, the YBT tests how well your whole body works together in more complex patterns.

The YBT is divided into components emphasizing the upper and lower half of your body, and looks at your reach and relative symmetry between right and left. The tests begin with a foot or hand planted on a center block, then with your opposite foot or hand you push a separate block to the limit of your stability. This is repeated in two more directions in a Y pattern.

At Strong Finish PT we use this test as part of our Sport Performance and Injury Prevention exam. To learn more about the YBT send us a DM Strong Finish Physical Therapy

Wondering what the source of your pain is?

Pain hurts no matter what, but understanding where it's coming from can help you get the right treatment.

Here are a few tips.

Let's not only figure out the source, but the why - and keep it from happening again!

If you have had an accident, or this is an emergency - please call 911! or visit your local emergency department.

Check your own ankle mobility using the level or inclinometer app on your phone.

Start in a half kneeling position with the inside of your foot placed along a line running straight away from you.

Place the edge of your phone on your shin bone two finger widths below the big bump on your upper leg.

Push your knee forwards towards your smallest toes, stop before your heel starts to lift off the floor, and check the angle/degree.

40 degrees or more is optimal, and a difference of 5 degrees or greater between your right and left side is considered an increased risk of injury.

Thank you again everyone who attended our shoulder mobility workshop at Corefitinc this week! In conjunction with the workshop, we’d like to introduce Symmio. This is the app we use for our personal wellness, and we’re stoked to announce we’ve partnered with them to provide its services to you.

Fair disclaimer, Symmio is a paid service. The initial screen is free, then to continue it costs $12 per month, but in a world saturated with thousands of wellness and fitness apps we’d recommend this one.

Symmio comes from the same team of medical and performance professionals that created the FMS and SFMA we’ve been highlighting over the last few weeks. When you download the app, it guides you through an assessment similar to the FMS, then recommends a 5-minute set of daily exercises to strengthen your target areas.

The creators of the app say, “Symmio embodies our commitment to making functional wellness principles accessible to everyone, helping individuals move better, feel better, and live better.”

Symmio is available on the App Store or over the web. If you have more questions don’t hesitate to send us a DM!
