Please join us this Saturday! ⭐ Our 2026 Memorial Day ceremony at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23rd. This year's Memorial Day theme is 'Wisconsin was there' as we honor and remember the sacrifices of our state's and nation's service members.

These ceremonies are free and open to the public. Just so you know, we provide limited seating, but we encourage you to bring a folding chair just in case. We hope you can join us as we honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Additionally, there are two more opportunities to attend Memorial Day ceremonies at our two other Wisconsin State veteran cemeteries:

✴️Sunday, May 24th, 11:00 a.m., at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI
✴️Monday, May 25th, at 10:00 a.m., at Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI (near Waupaca).

We'd like to send a huge thank you to VFW Post 7232 from Eau Claire for choosing our cemetery for their 'Day of Service' last Friday. This is the 3rd year in a row that their members have volunteered to help wash and clean our monument markers. We are very appreciative and thankful for the great partnership over the years with VFW Post 7232 Folsom Street!

We wanted to share a few photos of our grounds team hard at work this week, after the recent winter blizzard. Our grounds crew works in all types of weather to prepare for a veteran's burial here at our cemetery in Spooner.

Here are a few pictures showing this process taking place. In winter, some extra steps are needed for prep. First, they build a small fire using charcoal, cover it with a metal shield to trap the heat and thaw the ground for several hours, and then remove the earth with our equipment.

Please join us in expressing our thanks to our dedicated team of grounds crew who work in all weather - snow, rain, heat, and cold - as we remain committed to honor our veterans and all those at eternal rest here. Thank you!
