What happens when a personal stylist, realtor, esthetician and holistic health practitioner meet through a local women’s networking group?

Beauty 360 begins to take shape.

In this behind-the-scenes conversation, we’re sharing how four women from completely different businesses came together to create an experience that explores beauty from the inside out.

This is not a vendor fair or three hours of presentations. Beauty 360 is an interactive evening centered around:

• Your Presence
• Your Space
• Your Skin
• Your Whole Self

The evening will also include food, w**e and mocktail options, dessert, meaningful conversation, special take-home gifts and time to connect with other women in the community.

Proceeds after event expenses will benefit Purple Runway, extending the impact of the evening beyond those in the room.

What's up people?

Life feeling like ALOT? Find yourself using the word "BUSY" more often? Seriously - that is like a 4 letter word!!! the bad kind...I'm going to share with you the #1 secret I discovered that was THE gamechanger my health..I won't even make you scroll a bunch for it.

Wellness/Life/Happiness...is not about Perfection, it's about Perspective.......That's it

Here is a little video showing that in action.

I get to spend my days helping people navigate wellness and currently my evenings and weekends are a mix of house remodeling, dealing with insurance claims from faulty contractors and storm damage and doing some corporate compliance consult work....and YES enjoying time with my amazing partner and pups..

The outcome means my office space is a bit...well of a hot mess

Sometimes I don’t need another wellness strategy.

I need a mountain.

We recently got out to hike Old Rag, and part of the reason was pretty simple:

• We needed to offload some stress.
• Not optimize it.
• Not make a spreadsheet about it.
• Not buy a supplement for it.
• Walk.
• Climb.
• Breathe.
• Get quiet enough that the nervous system gets a chance to stop yelling for a minute.

One of the tricky things about chronic stress is that when it goes on long enough, we can start treating things that aren’t actually optimal as though they’re simply normal for us.

Tight shoulders? ……That’s just me.

Lower back hurting again? …….Normal.

Headaches all week? …………Apparently this is adulthood now.

Constantly feeling like you’re bracing for something? ……..Welcome to Tuesday.

• But sometimes you need enough of a break from the pattern to notice the pattern. That was one of the gifts of getting outside for us.
• Move the body.
• Get away from the noise.
• Notice what feels different.

And then, because balance is important, we stopped by Far Gohn Brewing Company afterward for some c***r and chill time.

This is my preferred interpretation of whole-person wellness.

Old Rag is close enough to us that we can actually make the trip without needing an entire vacation around it, and I already can’t wait to get back out there.

Where do you go in the Culpepper or FXBG area when you need enough space to get quiet, reset, and notice how you’re actually feeling?

One reason I said yes to being part of Beauty 360 is that I don’t think beauty and health live in separate departments. For example your skin doesn’t wake up every morning completely unaware of your stress.

Your energy, movement, nourishment, environment, confidence, relationships, skin, hormones, stress and the way you feel in your own body are all happening to the same person. You.

That is the conversation I’m bringing to Beauty 360 on September 10.

Four local women-owned businesses are coming together at Eden Try Winery for an interactive evening looking at beauty from more than one angle.

These are NOT sales pitches and this is not a vendor fair where you wander around collecting brochures you’ll discover in your purse three months from now.

This is an actual evening to experience, learn, connect, eat, have some w**e or a mocktail, and maybe leave thinking a little differently about what helps you feel like yourself. In other words we wanted to create something we actually want to attend ourselves.

I’ll also be helping us shift out of workday mode at the beginning of the evening with a short Golden Ball Qigong experience.

If this sounds like your kind of girls’ night:

I learned something last week that has me looking at pimples differently. Which is not a sentence I expected to write today.

At our monthly Y2H Wellness Practitioner’s Collective, Richard Malone, owner of Plumeria, gave us a fascinating talk about hormones and the ways hormonal patterns may show up through the skin.

I already knew hormones and skin were connected.

What I found much more interesting was the idea that we may be able to become more curious about which hormonal patterns are showing up, rather than simply throwing everything into the giant bucket labeled:

“Ugh. Hormones.”

Because sometimes the body gives us information in places we aren’t used to looking for it. For me personally, that means I’m now looking at a breakout and wondering:

Is this just a pimple?

Or is my body giving me another clue about what my hormones are doing right now?

That doesn’t mean diagnosing yourself by staring into the bathroom mirror. Please don’t cancel your lab work because a zit appeared on Tuesday. It means becoming curious about patterns.

Where does something appear? When does it happen? What else was changing at the same time?

Stress? Sleep? Your cycle? Food? Energy?

That is one of the things I love about getting different wellness practitioners into the same room.

Richard looks at something through a lens I don’t. I look at things through a lens someone else may not. And together we start asking better questions about the whole person. Thanks, Richard, for giving me yet another reason to investigate my face before blaming it for being difficult.

If this info was helpful, take a moment to travel over to Plumeria and ask for more info

You know how your partner can send you a signal from across the room that says, “Woman…..throw me some attention?”

Well, a few years ago, I realized my body sends me signals too…..For example, it likes to toss a little side eye at me by doing something weird in the area of my cheek just underneath my right eye.

First it swells……Not an alarming amount at first. Just enough that I notice it….Then it gets a little red too….and not the pretty blush shade..but a bit angrier looking

If I pay attention and make a few adjustments to whatever is pushing my system too hard, it usually settles back down….BUT - If I don’t?…well - It can swell enough that I can actually notice it in my vision and has ducking away from any picture taking for sure.

This is not exactly the look I’m going for as a wellness practitioner…Imagine —“Why hello, dear client. I’d love to help you feel better. Please ignore the fact that my face currently looks like somebody just slapped me upside my face.”….Definitely NOT ideal for building confidence.

After alot of ignoring it, face creams, hanging upside down, gua sha scraping and a few other things I eventually learned this is actually a little signal which shows up to tell me my histamine load is climbing.

For someone managing an autoimmune condition like mine, paying attention to those early signals matters.

It’s saying to me……Woman. Pay attention. - You are either under too much stress, or your usual 90%-pretty-clean way of eating is starting to look suspiciously more like 70%, and you might want to clean that up before I come looking for you.

Once I understood what that little signal meant, it felt like I had developed a psychic link with my autoimmune gremlins.

And honestly? GAME CHANGER!!!!!

Because now I don’t necessarily have to work harder, overhaul my entire life, or give up everything I enjoy. I just know what deserves my attention first.

Your body probably has a signal too. Maybe several.

Take a few minutes this week and think about what signals your body may be throwing your way.

What tends to happen first when something is getting off track? And what might it be connected to?

Then try giving that signal a little attention or making one small adjustment and see what happens.

We’d love to hear any stories you might have around this too, comment below – happy to explore them with you if you’d like.

One idea we keep coming back to:

The body doesn’t organize itself into specialties.

We do.

One practitioner may focus on skin.
Another hormones.
Another nutrition.
Another digestion.
Another stress.

But the person sitting in front of us experiences all of those systems at the same time.

That is one reason more health information isn’t necessarily the same thing as more clarity.

Sometimes the most useful next step is stepping back far enough to see the pattern.

A Whole Person Wellness Assessment is designed to help us look at the larger picture, identify patterns, and decide what may deserve attention first—rather than simply adding another disconnected recommendation.

You do not need to arrive at a Whole Person Wellness Assessment already knowing exactly what is wrong.

We begin with your story.

We talk about what you have been noticing, what has changed, and what matters most to you.

We look at patterns involving:

• Sleep
• Meals
• Movement
• Stress and recovery
• Energy
• Digestive comfort
• Health history
• Daily responsibilities
• Personal priorities

Then we work to identify what may deserve attention first.

The purpose is not to hand you an overwhelming list or ask you to change everything at once.

It is to help you see the larger picture and choose a meaningful place to begin.
